GBP/USD – Daily Read

25 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
1.3371

GBP/USD is attempting to extend a recovery, but the move has reached the point where confirmation matters more than direction. Last price is 1.3371 after the last session finished 0.2 percent lower, yet it is pressing the top of its one-month range. That combination keeps the near-term view constructive because the modest setback has not displaced sterling from the area where a genuine upside expansion can begin. The clear view is cautiously bullish while price holds its recovered ground, with conviction increasing only if overhead supply is absorbed.

The broader macro backdrop matters through relative UK-US rate expectations and dollar direction because GBP/USD responds directly when markets reassess the prospective return on sterling versus the dollar. The pair’s own structure currently carries the stronger message. Its one month average is 1.3273; price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. Momentum is roughly 1.0 percent up over the last two weeks, which means demand has improved without yet proving that the wider range has turned into a sustained advance.

The immediate contest is concentrated around the nearer round number handle at 1.3400 because that area can attract profit-taking and defensive dollar demand just beneath the month swing high at 1.3418, about 0.4 percent above the current price. A decisive move above 1.3418 would show that this supply has been cleared and opens the path toward 1.3675. That upper point also defines the far side of the three month range of 1.3139 to 1.3675, which means progress toward it would represent range expansion rather than routine noise. Below, the nearer round number handle at 1.3200 matters because holding it would preserve the recovery’s shape. A shelf of support at 1.3139, about 1.7 percent below, is the deeper line defended by prior range demand.

The bull path is straightforward: if GBP/USD holds above its recovered average, absorbs pressure around 1.3400, and then secures a decisive move above 1.3418, then the market has evidence that sterling demand is strong enough to challenge 1.3675. Follow-through would be credible because the pair would have converted the ceiling of the recent range into support. The bear path begins if repeated failure near the highs pushes price back through 1.3200. If that weakness then reaches and breaks 1.3139, losing 1.3139 exposes 1.3000 because the established shelf would no longer be containing downside pressure.

The main risk to the constructive read is a sharp reversal in relative currency expectations or renewed dollar strength, especially while GBP/USD remains beneath the longer reference area. Failure to hold 1.3200 would weaken the recovery, while acceptance below 1.3139 would invalidate it and shift control decisively toward the bears. Conversely, sustained trade through 1.3418 would invalidate the idea that this is merely another range failure. Net, the pair retains an upside bias because price has recovered above 1.3273, but the move becomes convincing only when resistance gives way.
