EUR/USD – Daily Read

1.1169
EUR/USD is leaning lower rather than collapsing, with the last price at 1.1169 and the last session change 0.1 percent lower. That matters because the pair is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, leaving the euro close enough to support for a meaningful test but without evidence that downside pressure has exhausted itself. The clear view is cautiously bearish while price remains beneath the nearby balance area, with confirmation required before treating weakness as a larger breakdown.
The macro backdrop matters only insofar as shifting relative rate expectations and defensive dollar demand can keep the euro under pressure, which means the currency pair remains sensitive to any catalyst that changes the perceived policy gap. The instrument-specific evidence supports that caution: the one month average is 1.1201, price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum roughly 0.6 percent down over the last two weeks, which means recent weakness has been persistent rather than confined to one poor session.
The first contest is the nearer round number handle at 1.1200, which acts as resistance because it sits close to the one-month balance point and separates immediate weakness from an attempted recovery. Sustained trade above that area would reduce near-term pressure, but the month swing high at 1.1340, about 1.5 percent above the current price, remains the more important resistance. It represents the boundary that has contained recent strength, so clearing it would change the structure rather than merely improve tone. Below, a shelf of support at 1.1114, about 0.5 percent below, is critical because it is also the floor of the three month range 1.1114 to 1.1715. The farther round number handle at 1.1000 matters because it is the next obvious reference point if that floor fails.
The bull path is straightforward: if EUR/USD reclaims 1.1200 and holds above it, then pressure on the euro begins to ease and the market can challenge 1.1340. A decisive move above 1.1340 opens the path toward 1.1715, which means the current downtrend would have been displaced by a broader recovery through the three-month range. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds continue to fail beneath 1.1200 and price returns to the floor, then losing 1.1114 exposes 1.1000. That sequence would matter because a range-floor failure often turns former support into resistance and encourages continuation rather than immediate stabilization.
The main risk to the bearish read is a rapid recovery through 1.1200 followed by acceptance above 1.1340, because that would invalidate the idea that recent weakness still controls the pair. Conversely, repeated defenses of 1.1114 without progress above nearby resistance would leave the market compressed, which means conviction should come from the eventual break rather than intraday noise. Net, EUR/USD remains vulnerable while below 1.1200 and especially 1.1340, with 1.1114 deciding whether this is contained weakness or a deeper move toward 1.1000.
Key levels: support 1.1114 (0.5% below), resistance 1.1340 (1.5% above), one-month average 1.1201, three-month range 1.1114 to 1.1715.
