US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

2 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.83

The US Dollar Index is correcting within a broader upward trend, not yet reversing it, because the last price at 101.83 is 0.1 percent lower and sits in the lower half of its one-month range. The clear view is cautiously constructive above nearby support, but the burden is shifting toward dollar strength to reassert itself. The pullback matters because failure to regain the recent balance area would leave the currency vulnerable to a deeper retracement, while renewed strength would confirm that underlying demand remains intact.

The immediate catalyst is the tension between short-term softness and a longer trend that still points up, because the one month average is 102.03 and price is below it. The structure therefore reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 0.2 percent down over the last two weeks, which means dollar pressure is persistent but still measured rather than disorderly. In the broader Forex backdrop, sensitivity to relative growth, policy expectations, and defensive demand matters only because those forces can determine whether this controlled retreat attracts renewed support or develops into a wider dollar unwind.

The first nearby test is 102.00, because reclaiming that round number handle would put price back near 102.03 and show that the loss of the one month average lacked follow-through. Above there, the month swing high at 102.94 stands about 1.1 percent above the current price and is the defining resistance, because it also marks the upper boundary of the three month range from 98.56 to 102.94. On the downside, a shelf of support at 101.45 sits about 0.4 percent below, which means it is close enough to attract an immediate defence. The deeper round number handle at 100.00 matters because holding above it would preserve separation from the range floor, while sustained trade below it would make that floor increasingly relevant.

The bull path is straightforward: if 101.45 continues to hold, then stabilization through 102.00 and recovery above 102.03 would suggest the pullback is being absorbed rather than extended. If that recovery then produces a decisive move above 102.94, the path opens toward 104.00 because the index would have cleared both the month swing high and the top of the three month range. The bear path begins if rebounds fail beneath 102.00 and 102.03, which means short-term pressure remains dominant. If 101.45 is then lost decisively, that exposes 98.56 because the nearby shelf would no longer defend the broader range.

The main risk to the constructive view is repeated rejection below 102.03 followed by a clean loss of 101.45, because that sequence would turn a contained pullback into a deeper range correction. Conversely, a decisive move above 102.94 would invalidate the bearish continuation case and refocus attention on 104.00, which means the longer upward trend had regained control. Net, DXY remains tactically soft at 101.83 but structurally resilient while 101.45 holds, with 102.94 separating consolidation from renewed upside expansion and 98.56 defining the consequence of support failure.
