DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

2 November 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,818.2

DAX 40 is attempting to reassert an upward bias at 25,818 despite finishing the last session 0.9 percent lower. The setback matters, but it does not yet overturn the recovery attempt because the index remains in the upper half of its one-month range and above the one month average at 25,388. The clear view is constructive while that relationship holds, with the latest decline looking more like a test of conviction than a confirmed reversal.

The macro backdrop matters through its effect on European growth expectations and risk appetite, because DAX 40 combines globally exposed companies with sensitivity to the regional outlook. Instrument-specific price action is still doing most of the analytical work: momentum is roughly 0.8 percent up over the last two weeks, which means underlying demand has survived the latest weak session. However, the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one, so the index has improved without yet establishing a fully durable advance.

The immediate contest sits around the nearer round number handles at 26,000 and 25,500. The 26,000 area matters because holding above it would show that the market can absorb supply near the top of the recent range, while repeated failure there would keep the recovery vulnerable to fading. Above that, the month swing high at 26,106, about 1.1 percent above the current price, is the key resistance. It is defended by participants who previously acted near the recent peak, so only a decisive move through it would demonstrate that this supply has been cleared.

On the downside, 25,500 is the first meaningful support because it sits close enough to current trade to reveal whether the latest weakness is controlled or becoming persistent. Below it, the one month average at 25,388 provides a more important structural test. The shelf of support at 24,793, about 4.0 percent below, is the decisive defensive line because it separates an orderly recovery attempt from a material deterioration. The broader three month range of 24,697 to 26,619 reinforces that interpretation, with current trade positioned toward its upper region rather than near outright breakdown territory.

The bull path is straightforward: if DAX 40 regains 26,000, holds it, and then delivers a decisive move above 26,106, that opens the path toward 26,619 because the recent ceiling would have given way and the upper boundary of the three month range would become the next resistance. The bear path begins if 25,500 fails and price cannot recover the one month average at 25,388. If pressure then carries through 24,793, that exposes 24,293 because the established support shelf would no longer be containing the decline.

The principal risk to the constructive view is a failure to convert resilience into progress above 26,000 and 26,106, because stalled recoveries near resistance can quickly lose sponsorship. A sustained loss of 24,793 would invalidate the read and shift control decisively toward the bearish path to 24,293. Until that happens, the net take remains cautiously constructive at 25,818, with upside confirmation still required and downside invalidation clearly defined.
