Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

NAS100 is pressing the lower edge of its recent range while appearing deceptively calm. The last price is 27,990, and it was little changed on the session, under 0.05%, but that stability does not yet signal repair because the index is down near the floor of its one-month range. The clear view is defensive: nearby support can produce a sharp rebound, yet the broader structure remains weak until price reclaims territory that has consistently capped recovery attempts.
The pressure matters because growth-heavy equities remain especially sensitive to shifts in rate expectations and confidence in future earnings, which means macro uncertainty can amplify moves already driven by stretched technology positioning. NAS100 has fallen roughly 5.1 percent over the last two weeks, while the one month average at 29,617 remains overhead. Price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages. The month swing high at 31,361 sits about 12.0 percent above the current price, showing how much ground has been surrendered and how substantial the repair task has become.
The immediate battle is concentrated around a shelf of support at 27,967, about 0.08 percent below the last price. That shelf matters because it is close enough to attract repeated defense, while the 28,000 round number acts as the nearest psychological handle and a gauge of whether traders can stabilize the tape. Holding both would keep a rebound attempt alive. Losing 27,967 would expose 27,176, the lower boundary of the three month range from 27,176 to 31,361. The 27,500 handle sits between those points and should matter because acceptance below it would show that support is failing to generate durable demand.
The bull path is straightforward but demanding. If 27,967 holds and NAS100 regains 28,000 with sustained trade above it, then pressure can ease and attention can rotate back toward 29,617, because reclaiming that average would be the first meaningful evidence that the recent decline is losing control. If recovery then extends through 31,361 decisively, the path opens toward 31,861, which means the market would have cleared both the month swing high and the top of the broader range. The bear path is cleaner: if 27,967 fails, then 27,500 becomes a test of damage control, and failure there increases the probability of a move toward 27,176.
The main risk to the cautious view is a fast reversal through 29,617, because that would place price back above the central reference point of the past month and weaken the downtrend interpretation. Conversely, repeated failure around 28,000 followed by acceptance below 27,967 would invalidate the near-term stabilization case, while a break of 27,176 would confirm that the three month floor has given way. Net, NAS100 remains vulnerable despite the quiet session: support is close enough for a rebound, but the burden of proof stays with the bulls until lost ground is reclaimed and held.
Key levels: support 27,967 (0.08% below), resistance 31,361 (12.0% above), one-month average 29,617, three-month range 27,176 to 31,361.
