GBP/USD – Daily Read

31 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
1.3392

GBP/USD is challenging the upper edge of its recent balance, with last price 1.3392 and the last session 0.1 percent higher. It is pressing the top of its one-month range because demand has rebuilt steadily rather than arriving through a single sharp squeeze. The pair now has a constructive near-term bias, but conviction still depends on clearing nearby supply. Momentum roughly 0.5 percent up over the last two weeks reinforces the recovery attempt, which means the market is advancing with enough persistence to test resistance, though not yet with enough authority to declare a broader breakout.

The macro catalyst is the shifting balance between expected Bank of England restraint and Federal Reserve patience, which matters because GBP/USD responds directly to changes in the relative policy outlook. Sterling has also had to absorb concern around the UK fiscal position, so its ability to hold firm suggests those risks are being contained rather than ignored. The one month average 1.3302 is important because price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. That leaves the asset class signal constructive at the front end while the broader currency trend remains unconfirmed.

The immediate decision area begins with the nearer round number handle at 1.3400, because sustained trade above it would show that offers around the range ceiling are being absorbed. The month swing high 1.3433, about 0.3 percent above the current price, is the more meaningful resistance because it marks where the recovery must prove it can extend rather than stall. Below, the nearer round number handle at 1.3200 should attract defensive demand because it separates an orderly pullback from a deeper loss of structure. The shelf of support at 1.3139, about 1.9 percent below, is the critical floor because it is also the lower boundary of the three month range 1.3139 to 1.3675.

The bull path is straightforward: if GBP/USD holds above 1.3400 and then delivers a decisive move above 1.3433, the path opens toward 1.3675 because the pair would have cleared the month’s main supply point and confirmed continuation through the wider range. Progress would still need to be sustained, since a brief move above resistance followed by immediate rejection would signal exhaustion. The bear path begins if repeated failures around 1.3433 push price back beneath 1.3302; if 1.3200 then fails, pressure should build toward 1.3139 because the recovery would have surrendered both its average and its nearer psychological support. Losing 1.3139 exposes 1.3000, which means the range floor has failed and downside repricing is under way.

The principal risk is that relative policy expectations reverse abruptly, because currencies can invalidate otherwise orderly price structure when rate assumptions shift. A sustained rejection below 1.3433 followed by acceptance under 1.3302 would weaken the constructive view, while a loss of 1.3139 would invalidate it outright. Conversely, firm acceptance above 1.3433 would remove the main objection to further strength. The net take is cautiously bullish because GBP/USD is holding above its recent average and challenging resistance, but the recovery becomes durable only when the range ceiling gives way.
