0.8432
EUR/GBP is pressing the lower boundary of its recent range at 0.8432 after finishing the last session 0.2 percent lower, and the balance of evidence still favors further downside because sterling continues to command the stronger side of the cross. The pair is down near the floor of its one-month range, which means bearish positioning is already mature enough to make fresh lows harder won, but not mature enough to call a durable reversal. The clear view is that rallies remain vulnerable unless price can reclaim levels that would materially repair the damaged structure.
The macro relevance lies in relative expectations for the euro area and the United Kingdom, because EUR/GBP reflects the gap between the two currencies rather than broad dollar direction. That relative pressure is visible in the one month average at 0.8513: price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum roughly 0.8 percent down over the last two weeks confirms that the move is persistent rather than a single-session dislocation, which means the burden of proof remains on euro strength. At the same time, proximity to the range floor raises the risk of sharp rebounds if sterling’s advantage stops widening.
The immediate shelf of support at 0.8418, about 0.2 percent below, matters because it is also the lower boundary of the three month range 0.8418 to 0.8680. That overlap gives the level more significance than an isolated intraday low: it is where range demand must defend the broader structure. The nearer round number handle at 0.8400 sits just beneath it, which means a break could accelerate quickly as the market tests whether support has merely shifted lower. On the upside, 0.8600 is the first major round number handle that would signal a meaningful recovery, while the month swing high at 0.8612, about 2.1 percent above the current price, is the more important resistance because clearing it would overturn the sequence of failed rebounds.
The bull path is straightforward: if 0.8418 holds and price begins reclaiming 0.8513, then the cross can challenge 0.8600 because the bearish structure would be losing control at both the average and the round number handle. A decisive move above 0.8612 opens the path toward 0.8680, which means the market would have shifted from defending the floor to testing the ceiling of the broader range. The bear path is equally clean: losing 0.8418 exposes 0.8400 because the established floor would no longer be containing pressure, and failure at 0.8400 would confirm that the recent range is breaking lower rather than merely being tested.
The principal risk to the bearish view is a sustained recovery through 0.8513 followed by acceptance above 0.8600, because that would show the current weakness is exhaustion rather than continuation. Full invalidation comes with a decisive move above 0.8612, which means resistance has failed and 0.8680 becomes the relevant upper boundary. Conversely, repeated defense of 0.8418 without progress higher would not itself turn the picture bullish. The net take remains cautiously bearish at 0.8432 because trend and momentum still point lower, but conviction should rise only when support either breaks cleanly or produces a recovery strong enough to change the structure.
Key levels: support 0.8418 (0.2% below), resistance 0.8612 (2.1% above), one-month average 0.8513, three-month range 0.8418 to 0.8680.
