Ethereum (ETH) – Daily Read

17 October 2026 | Crypto | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$2,412.24

Ethereum is testing whether a constructive longer trend can absorb a sharp near-term reset. Last price is $2,412, with the last session 1.8 percent lower, and it is down near the floor of its one-month range. That matters because weakness at the bottom of a recent range forces demand to respond quickly. The clear view is cautious while price remains beneath nearby resistance, but the larger advance is not broken unless the deeper support shelf fails.

The one-month average is $2,612; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 9.3 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the immediate pressure is substantial even though the broader direction remains constructive. Crypto risk appetite is therefore the relevant macro transmission channel because Ethereum needs wider confidence and improving liquidity conditions to turn this retreat into renewed strength rather than a deeper unwind.

The first contest is around the nearer round number handles at $2,450 and $2,400. The $2,400 handle matters because holding around it would show that demand is willing to defend the lower edge of the immediate zone, while reclaiming $2,450 would begin repairing the short-term structure. Above there, the one-month average at $2,612 is the more meaningful resistance because recovering it would indicate that the recent loss of trend control was temporary. The month swing high is $2,805, about 16.3 percent above the current price, and it is decisive because it also marks the upper boundary of the Three month range from $1,672 to $2,805. Below spot, a shelf of support sits at $2,324, about 3.7 percent below, which means the market has limited room to stabilize before the larger range comes back into play.

The bull path is straightforward: if Ethereum defends $2,400, reclaims $2,450, and then establishes itself back above $2,612, confidence should improve because each step would reverse part of the recent deterioration. If that recovery extends into a decisive move above $2,805, it opens the path toward $2,855, with the former range ceiling then needing to act as support. The bear path is equally clear: if $2,400 fails and rebounds cannot recover it, pressure should concentrate on $2,324 because that shelf is the final defined defense above the range low. Losing $2,324 exposes $1,672, which means the pullback would have evolved into a much broader retracement rather than a routine consolidation within an upward trend.

The principal risk to the cautious constructive view is sustained acceptance below $2,324, because that would invalidate the idea that the longer trend can contain the current decline. Conversely, a decisive recovery through $2,612 would weaken the bearish case, while strength above $2,805 would overturn it. Net, $2,400 and $2,324 define the defense, $2,450 and $2,612 define rehabilitation, and Ethereum remains vulnerable until it proves that demand can regain control.
