US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

3 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.74

The US Dollar Index is pausing rather than reversing, with Last price 101.74 and the last session little changed on the session (under 0.05%). The index is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, which means near-term control has softened even though the broader direction has not yet broken. The clear view is cautiously constructive: the dollar is undergoing a contained pullback, but its proximity to support leaves little room for further weakness before the market must decide whether the longer advance remains credible.

The macro backdrop matters only insofar as shifting expectations for US growth, policy, and relative returns can quickly alter demand for the dollar, because DXY expresses those cross-market judgments more directly than a single currency pair. The One month average 102.02; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. The index is roughly 0.03 percent up over the last two weeks, which means the recent loss of altitude has produced hesitation rather than forceful downside continuation.

The first resistance is the round number handle at 102.00, because reclaiming it would place price back above an obvious psychological pivot and improve the case for another test higher. Beyond it, the Month swing high 102.94, about 1.2 percent above the current price, is the defining ceiling because it caps both the one-month and Three month range 98.56 to 102.94. On the downside, a shelf of support at 101.43, about 0.3 percent below, is being defended by traders who still view the retreat as corrective. The nearer round number handle at 100.00 matters beneath that shelf because it would become the next psychological battleground if confidence deteriorates.

For the bull path, if 101.43 continues to hold and 102.00 is reclaimed with conviction, then the pullback should lose relevance and attention should return to 102.94. A decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward 104.00, which means the market would be confirming renewed upside expansion beyond the recent range. For the bear path, if repeated failures beneath 102.00 are followed by losing 101.43, then the structure changes from controlled consolidation to a deeper correction. Losing 101.43 exposes 98.56, because support within the existing range would have failed and the lower boundary would become the natural reference.

The main risk to the constructive view is that apparent stability at 101.74 masks weakening demand, because the small cushion above 101.43 can disappear quickly in forex. Sustained trade beneath 101.43 would invalidate the idea that this is merely a pullback, while recovery through 102.00 would strengthen it and a break of 102.94 would confirm it. Net, the dollar remains upward-biased over the longer trend but tactically vulnerable, which means patience is warranted until either support proves durable or the range resolves decisively.
