US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

30 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.82

The US Dollar Index is consolidating rather than reversing, with last price at 101.82 and little changed on the session (under 0.05%). The near-term tone is soft because it is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, yet the broader structure has not surrendered its upward bias. That combination matters: the dollar is absorbing pressure close to support rather than accelerating lower, which means the next break should reveal whether this is a controlled pullback or the start of a deeper retracement.

The one month average at 102.04 captures the immediate tension because price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum roughly 0.04 percent up over the last two weeks reinforces that mixed message: progress has been marginal, but underlying demand has not disappeared. The macro backdrop matters through relative rate expectations and demand for dollar liquidity, which means any shift in those forces can quickly decide whether this pause resolves higher or spreads across Forex as broader dollar weakness.

The first nearby test is 102.00, which matters because reclaiming that round number handle would place price back near the one month average at 102.04 and show that the current weakness is being contained. Above there, the month swing high at 102.94, about 1.1 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because it marks both the top of the recent advance and the upper boundary of the three month range from 98.56 to 102.94. On the downside, a shelf of support at 101.45, about 0.4 percent below, is the immediate defense because holding it preserves the pullback interpretation. The deeper round number handle at 100.00 matters psychologically and structurally, which means sustained trade beneath it would indicate that pressure is no longer shallow.

The bull path is straightforward: if 101.45 continues to hold and price reclaims 102.00, then a move through 102.04 would restore near-term control and bring 102.94 back into focus. If a decisive move above 102.94 follows, it opens the path toward 104.00 because the index would have cleared the established range ceiling and confirmed that the longer upward trend is reasserting itself. The bear path begins if rebounds fail beneath 102.00 and 102.04; if 101.45 then gives way, losing 101.45 exposes 98.56 because the nearest shelf would have failed and the lower boundary of the three month range would become the next major reference.

The principal risk to the constructive view is persistent acceptance below 101.45, which means the market would be rejecting the idea that this is merely a pullback. A loss of 100.00 would add weight to that invalidation because it would place the dollar materially deeper inside the 98.56 to 102.94 range. Conversely, repeated defense of 101.45 followed by strength above 102.94 would invalidate the bearish case. Net, the bias remains cautiously constructive while 101.45 holds, but conviction requires a decisive recovery through 102.94.
