DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

DAX 40 is attempting to turn recovery into a breakout, with the last price at 26,040 after finishing the last session 1.3 percent higher. It is pressing the top of its one-month range, which means strength is now encountering the area where conviction must replace simple rebound demand. The clear view is cautiously bullish because price is holding above its recent reference point and approaching resistance with positive short-term direction, but the market has not yet proved that it can sustain a move into fresh range territory.
The macro backdrop matters mainly through the DAX’s sensitivity to global growth expectations and the outlook for its large exporters, while the immediate catalyst is the index’s own improving price structure. The one month average is 25,357; price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. That distinction matters because the advance is roughly 2.6 percent up over the last two weeks, which means near-term pressure has turned constructive without yet establishing a broader advance beyond dispute.
The first decision area is the month swing high at 26,106, about 0.3 percent above the current price. It matters because this is the nearest visible ceiling and the point where traders who benefited from the recovery may defend gains. The nearer round number handles at 26,500 and 26,000 provide the next map: 26,000 should act as immediate support because holding above it keeps the breakout attempt orderly, while 26,500 is likely to attract resistance before the upper boundary of the three month range at 26,619. That full three month range is 24,697 to 26,619, which means the index is already operating near its upper extreme. Farther below, a shelf of support sits at 24,793, about 4.8 percent below, because that area marks the base whose survival separates a controlled pullback from renewed structural weakness.
The bull path is straightforward: if DAX holds 26,000 and delivers a decisive move above 26,106, then the path opens toward 26,619, with 26,500 serving as the likely intermediate test because round handles often concentrate positioning and hesitation. Acceptance beyond 26,619 would imply that the recovery has expanded beyond the existing three month boundary. The bear path begins if repeated failures around 26,106 push price back beneath 26,000, which means the breakout attempt has stalled. If weakness then extends through 24,793, it exposes 24,293 because the principal support shelf would no longer be containing downside pressure.
The main risk to the constructive view is that strength near the range top proves temporary rather than durable. A retreat below 25,357 would weaken the recovery attempt because price would have surrendered the one month average, while losing 24,793 would invalidate the bullish structure and shift attention firmly to 24,293. The net take remains cautiously bullish above 26,000, but conviction requires 26,106 to give way and the read turns materially defensive if 24,793 fails.
Key levels: support 24,793 (4.8% below), resistance 26,106 (0.3% above), one-month average 25,357, three-month range 24,697 to 26,619.
