US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

26 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.66

The US Dollar Index is in a controlled pullback rather than a confirmed trend reversal. Last price is 101.66, with the last session 0.2 percent lower, and it is trading in the lower half of its one-month range. That matters because near-term pressure is now challenging an otherwise rising longer trend. The clear view is cautiously constructive above support, but the dollar needs to recover nearby resistance before the market can treat this weakness as consolidation rather than the start of a deeper retracement.

The immediate context is a loss of short-term traction within the Forex complex. The one month average is 101.95; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. The index is roughly 0.9 percent down over the last two weeks, which means recent flows have favored a softer dollar without yet overturning the broader direction. On 26 October 2026, wider macro expectations matter only insofar as they alter relative demand for the dollar, because this instrument responds directly to shifts in the perceived path of US growth, policy, and demand for defensive currency exposure.

The first test overhead is the round number handle at 102.00. It matters because regaining it would place price back above the one month average at 101.95 and show that the latest retreat is being absorbed. Beyond there, the month swing high at 102.94, about 1.3 percent above the current price, is the defining resistance because it marks both the recent ceiling and the upper boundary of the three month range from 98.56 to 102.94. A shelf of support at 100.87, about 0.8 percent below, is equally important because it is the nearest area capable of preserving the pullback interpretation. The round number handle at 100.00 sits beneath that shelf and would become a psychological line of defense if 100.87 fails.

The bull path is straightforward: if 101.95 and 102.00 are reclaimed and then hold on a retest, upward pressure should rebuild because the market would have recovered both its recent average and a visible round number. If that strength produces a decisive move above 102.94, it opens the path toward 104.00, which means the three month ceiling has given way and the longer rising trend has resumed with confirmation. The bear path begins if rebounds repeatedly fail beneath 101.95 and 102.00. If price then loses 100.87, it exposes 98.56, because the main shelf protecting the lower side of the three month range would no longer be intact.

The principal risk to the constructive view is sustained trade below 100.87, especially if 100.00 cannot stabilize the index, because that sequence would turn a measured pullback into a broader deterioration and make 98.56 the relevant downside reference. Conversely, the bearish case is invalidated by acceptance above 102.94, with 104.00 then carrying greater weight. Net, 101.66 leaves DXY vulnerable in the near term, but support still has enough room to preserve the rising longer trend, which means the decisive contest is between 100.87 below and 102.94 above.
