DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

26 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,181.7

The DAX 40 is caught between a short-term rebound and a broader weakening structure, with the last price at 25,182 after finishing 0.7 percent lower. The index is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, which matters because rallies are still occurring from a position of weakness rather than strength. The clear view is cautious: near-term resilience can extend, but control does not shift decisively toward the bulls unless overhead resistance is reclaimed.

Europe’s growth and rate backdrop matters here because the DAX has heavy exposure to cyclical manufacturers, exporters and financial companies, making it sensitive to changes in economic confidence and global demand. Momentum is roughly 1.5 percent up over the last two weeks, showing that demand has responded despite the latest decline. Yet the one month average is 25,292 and price is below it, while the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. That tension explains the current market: there is enough recovery pressure to challenge resistance, but not yet enough evidence to declare a durable turn.

The nearer round number handles at 25,500 and 25,000 define the immediate contest. Holding 25,000 matters because it keeps the recent recovery intact and preserves room for another attempt through 25,500, where supply is likely to test whether the rebound has real follow-through. The month swing high at 25,783, about 2.4 percent above the current price, is the more important ceiling because clearing it would overturn the sequence of failed advances. Beneath the market, a shelf of support at 24,793, about 1.5 percent below, is defended by recent demand and proximity to the bottom of the broader range. The three month range of 24,697 to 26,619 gives that shelf added meaning because a failure there would place the index back near the range floor rather than inside a routine pullback.

The bull path is straightforward: if 25,000 continues to hold, then a recovery through 25,500 can build pressure against 25,783. A decisive move above 25,783 opens the path toward 26,619 because it would remove the key monthly ceiling and signal that the broader range is being traversed upward. The quality of that move would depend on acceptance above resistance, not merely a brief trade through it.

The bear path begins if rebounds stall below 25,500 and the index rotates back through 25,000. If that weakness then reaches and loses 24,793, it exposes 24,500 because the established support shelf would no longer be containing supply. That outcome would also place the market below the three month low of 24,697, turning a controlled retreat into a more consequential downside extension.

The main risk to the cautious view is a clean recovery above 25,783, which would invalidate the downtrend interpretation and shift attention to 26,619. Conversely, sustained trade below 24,793 would invalidate the idea that the two-week recovery remains constructive. Net, 25,182 leaves the DAX balanced close to important support, but the burden remains on the bulls because strength must clear resistance before the broader structure can credibly improve.
