DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

15 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,298.6

DAX 40 is stabilising without yet repairing its underlying weakness. Last price 25,299 left the last session 0.2 percent higher, but that modest advance matters mainly as evidence that pressure is being absorbed rather than as confirmation of a turn. It is sitting mid-range over the past month, which means neither side has established control. The clear view is cautiously defensive: resilience around current prices can extend the consolidation, but the burden remains on the bulls to reclaim lost ground before this becomes a durable recovery.

The immediate tension comes from the DAX’s exposure to exporters, industrial companies and financials, because shifts in global growth expectations, trade sentiment, the euro and bond yields can quickly alter the index’s leadership. The one month average is 25,327; price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum is roughly 0.3 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the latest positive session has not yet reversed the broader loss of traction.

The nearer round number handles at 25,500 and 25,000 define the immediate contest because they separate a routine range from a more directional move. Holding 25,000 would show that participants still regard weakness near the lower handle as manageable, while sustained acceptance above 25,500 would reduce pressure and improve the chance of challenging the month swing high at 26,027, about 2.9 percent above the current price. A shelf of support at 24,793, about 2.0 percent below, is more important because it represents the area where the month’s balance could fail. The wider three month range is 23,797 to 26,619, which means moves beyond the nearer boundaries would carry significance well beyond a short-lived fluctuation.

The bull path is straightforward: if 25,000 continues to hold and price establishes itself above 25,500, then improving participation can pull the index back toward 26,027. A decisive move above 26,027 opens the path toward 26,619 because that break would clear the recent swing ceiling and challenge the prevailing downtrend. The bear path begins if rebounds repeatedly stall below 25,500 and price turns through 25,000. If that weakness then removes 24,793, losing 24,793 exposes 23,797, which means the market would be rotating from mid-range consolidation toward the bottom of its broader range.

The principal risk to the cautious view is a forceful recovery through 26,027, because follow-through toward 26,619 would invalidate the assumption that rallies remain constrained. Conversely, the stabilisation case is invalidated by a sustained loss of 24,793, with 23,797 then becoming the natural downside reference. Until either boundary gives way, 25,299 remains caught between nearby support and overhead resistance, which means patience is warranted. Net, the DAX is resilient enough to avoid an outright bearish conclusion, but not strong enough to deserve a bullish one until it proves itself above 25,500 and then 26,027.
