Copper – Daily Read
25 October 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk
$6.40
Copper is correcting within a broader upward trend, with the last price at $6.40 after finishing 2.7 percent lower. That matters because the market is down near the floor of its one-month range, where weakness must either attract a credible defense or develop into a deeper reset. The immediate view is cautiously constructive above support, but the burden has shifted to the bullish side to prove that the retreat is ending.
The macro catalyst is the market’s changing assessment of global industrial demand and currency conditions, which matters especially for copper because its pricing is closely tied to manufacturing confidence and the cost of holding dollar-denominated commodities. Instrument-specific pressure is visible in the rejection from the month swing high at $6.93, about 8.3 percent above the current price, followed by roughly 2.8 percent down over the last two weeks. That sequence describes cooling demand for exposure rather than a confirmed reversal.
The one month average at $6.62 is the first meaningful recovery test because price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. The nearer round number handles at $6.60 and $6.40 matter because they concentrate attention around the boundary between stabilization and continued pressure. Reclaiming both would show that the recent weakness is being absorbed, while repeated failure beneath them would keep control with the bearish side.
A shelf of support at $6.38, about 0.3 percent below, is the critical near-term defense because it sits directly beneath the current market and near the bottom of the recent range. The wider Three month range is $5.97 to $6.93, which means the present weakness is testing the lower end of the latest consolidation while remaining well above the broader range floor. Holding $6.38 would preserve the pullback interpretation. Losing it would indicate that support has failed and that the correction is expanding.
The bull path is straightforward: if $6.38 holds, then stabilization around $6.40 can create the base for a recovery through $6.60 and the one month average at $6.62. If those levels are reclaimed and retained, then pressure can rotate back toward $6.93 because the longer trend remains constructive. A decisive move above $6.93 opens the path toward $7.13, which would confirm that the pullback has resolved through the upper boundary rather than merely bounced inside it.
The bear path begins if attempts to recover $6.60 and $6.62 continue to fail, because that would show overhead supply remains effective. If $6.38 then gives way, losing $6.38 exposes $5.97, which would turn a contained retreat into a test of the Three month range floor. The read is invalidated on either a sustained recovery above $6.93 or a clean failure through $6.38. Net, copper remains longer-term constructive but tactically vulnerable, with support doing more work than price strength at present.
Key levels: support $6.38 (0.3% below), resistance $6.93 (8.3% above), one-month average $6.62, three-month range $5.97 to $6.93.
