AUD/USD – Daily Read

25 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.7039

AUD/USD is testing whether a recovery can become a durable upside break. The last price is 0.7039, with the last session 0.2 percent higher, and it is pressing the top of its one-month range. That matters because strength at the range ceiling shows the Australian dollar is absorbing pressure rather than merely rebounding from weakness. The near-term view is constructive, but conviction requires confirmation above the nearby high since the pair remains at a decision point where failed breakouts can reverse quickly.

The macro link is relative rate expectations and global risk appetite, because AUD/USD typically responds to shifts in US dollar demand as well as confidence in growth-sensitive currencies. Instrument-specific price action supports cautious optimism: the one month average is 0.6980, price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. Momentum is roughly 0.7 percent up over the last two weeks, which means upward pressure is established but has not yet proved strong enough to clear the broader ceiling.

The immediate test is the month swing high at 0.7047, about 0.1 percent above the current price. This level matters because it is the closest evidence that supply at the top of the recent range has been overcome. The round number handle at 0.7000 is the first nearby support, and holding above it would preserve the recovery character by keeping price above an important psychological reference. Beneath that sits a shelf of support at 0.6899, about 2.0 percent below, which matters because it is also the floor of the three month range of 0.6899 to 0.7241. The upper round number handle at 0.7200 is resistance inside that range, where progress may slow before the range ceiling is challenged.

The bull path is clear: if AUD/USD makes a decisive move above 0.7047 and then treats that area as support, the path opens toward 0.7241 because the market would have escaped its one-month ceiling and gained room through the upper part of the three month range. A sustained push through 0.7200 would strengthen that case by showing that round-number resistance is no longer containing demand. The bear path is equally defined: if the pair falls back through 0.7000, the breakout attempt weakens; if it then loses 0.6899, that exposes 0.6800 because the three month floor would have failed and the recovery structure would be broken.

The principal risk is a false break above 0.7047 followed by a quick return below 0.7000, which would show that strength near the range top lacked durability. The constructive read is invalidated more decisively by losing 0.6899, because that would replace higher recovery ground with a fresh downside extension toward 0.6800. Net, AUD/USD has a positive near-term bias above 0.6980, but the market still needs acceptance beyond 0.7047 before the move can credibly broaden toward 0.7241.
