DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

25,704.0
DAX 40 is pressing the top of its one-month range at 25,704 after finishing the last session 0.4 percent higher, which means the market is testing whether a recovery attempt can become a broader advance. The near-term bias is constructive because momentum is roughly 1.6 percent up over the last two weeks and price has reclaimed an important reference area. Conviction should remain measured, however, because the index is approaching resistance rather than emerging from support, leaving little room for hesitation if fresh demand does not appear.
The move reflects improving appetite for European equity exposure, but the shared macro backdrop matters only insofar as shifting policy, growth and earnings expectations are shaping the relative appeal of the asset class. More specifically, the one month average at 25,325 is now below price, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one, which means short-term control has improved without confirming a complete trend reversal. That tension explains why the current test carries more information than the latest positive session alone.
The immediate decision point is the month swing high at 25,717, about 0.05 percent above the current price, because it marks the ceiling that has contained the advance and sits almost directly overhead. A decisive move above 25,717 opens the path toward 26,619, with the nearer round number handle at 26,000 likely to act as resistance because participants often reassess exposure around prominent handles. The three month range of 24,697 to 26,619 shows that the upper objective is also the broader range boundary, which means acceptance there would carry more weight than a brief intraday probe. On the downside, 25,500 is the nearer round number handle and should act as initial support because holding it would preserve pressure near the highs. A shelf of support at 24,793, about 3.5 percent below, is the more important defensive line because it anchors the recovery structure.
The bull path is straightforward: if DAX clears 25,717 decisively and remains supported above that former ceiling, then 26,000 becomes the next test, followed by a potential extension toward 26,619 because resistance would have converted into support and the range top would be back in play. The bear path begins if repeated failure near 25,717 forces price below 25,500; then the advance loses urgency and attention shifts to 24,793 because that shelf separates an orderly pullback from structural damage. Losing 24,793 exposes 24,293, which means the recovery attempt would have failed and downside pressure could accelerate.
The main risk is a false break above 25,717 followed by a quick retreat through 25,500, because that would show the market cannot hold higher ground despite favorable short-term momentum. The constructive read is invalidated more fully by losing 24,793, while sustained strength through 26,000 would reinforce it and put 26,619 firmly in view. Net, DAX remains positively biased at 25,704, but confirmation now matters more than momentum because the index is pressing resistance and must prove it can convert recovery into durable range expansion.
Key levels: support 24,793 (3.5% below), resistance 25,717 (0.05% above), one-month average 25,325, three-month range 24,697 to 26,619.
