US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

29 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$102.20

The US Dollar Index is grinding higher rather than breaking out, with 102.20 marking a last session change of 0.1 percent higher. The move matters because it is holding in the upper half of its one-month range, showing that dollar demand remains firm even without aggressive acceleration. The clean read is constructive: price is above both its one-month and longer averages, which means the prevailing direction still favors further strength. This is not yet a runaway advance, but it is persistent enough that fading the dollar requires evidence of structural damage rather than an assumption that strength must soon exhaust itself.

The immediate context is a market still sensitive to shifts in relative growth, policy expectations, and demand for liquidity, which means even modest changes in that backdrop can reinforce the dollar’s broad influence across Forex. Instrument-specific behavior supports that view because the one month average at 102.06 sits just beneath spot, while momentum is roughly 0.2 percent up over the last two weeks. That pace is measured, not stretched, and therefore leaves room for continuation if fresh demand appears. The three month range of 98.56 to 102.94 also places the index close to the upper boundary, confirming strength while warning that the next advance must clear established supply.

The nearer round number handle at 102.00 is the first support test because it sits close to both current price and the one month average at 102.06. Holding that area would preserve the clean uptrend and suggest that shallow weakness is being absorbed. Above, the month swing high at 102.94, about 0.7 percent above the current price, is decisive resistance because it caps both the recent and broader range. A decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward 104.00, where the next round number handle should attract heavier two-way interest. Below, a shelf of support at 101.03, about 1.1 percent below, defends the broader structure; losing it would signal that the current advance has failed.

The bull path is straightforward: if 102.00 and 102.06 continue to hold, then pressure can rebuild against 102.94 because the trend remains intact and positioning has no confirmed reason to retreat. If 102.94 then gives way decisively, the range ceiling becomes potential support and 104.00 becomes the logical next test. The bear path begins with repeated failure beneath 102.94. If that rejection pushes price through 102.00 and then through 101.03, the structure would turn materially weaker, which means the lower boundary at 98.56 becomes exposed rather than merely theoretical.

The key risk is a false break above 102.94 that quickly returns below 102.00, because that sequence would show that apparent strength lacked follow-through. The bullish read is invalidated by losing 101.03, which means the defense of the upper range has failed and 98.56 is back in play. Conversely, sustained acceptance beyond 102.94 would invalidate the bearish case and strengthen the route toward 104.00. Net, DXY remains constructively biased at 102.20, with patience justified while support holds and conviction reserved for a confirmed break of resistance.
