Copper – Daily Read

29 October 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$6.40

Copper is correcting inside a broader advance, but the immediate tape is fragile: the last price is $6.40 after finishing 2.7 percent lower. It is down near the floor of its one-month range because recent liquidation has overwhelmed the longer-term demand narrative. The clear view is cautious while price remains beneath nearby overhead supply, although this is not yet a full trend reversal because the longer trend still points up.

The one month average is $6.62, and price is below it, which means the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Copper is roughly 2.8 percent down over the last two weeks because expectations around global manufacturing demand, Chinese consumption and mine supply are being marked more defensively. Shifting growth, currency and policy expectations matter here in one direct way: they change how aggressively the commodity complex prices future physical demand. The month swing high at $6.93 stands about 8.3 percent above the current price, showing how sharply conviction has faded without yet erasing the broader advance.

The immediate decision area is the shelf of support at $6.38, about 0.3 percent below, because it sits almost directly beneath the last price and therefore offers little room for further weakness before structure deteriorates. The nearer round number handles at $6.60 and $6.40 also matter because traders often reassess conviction around clean reference points. Holding $6.40 and reclaiming $6.60 would show that pressure is being absorbed, while remaining below $6.60 would leave rebounds vulnerable to renewed supply. The three month range of $5.97 to $6.93 defines the larger battlefield, which means the current position is still in its upper half despite the short-term damage.

The bull path is straightforward: if $6.38 continues to hold, then stabilization above $6.40 can create room for a recovery through $6.60 and back toward $6.93 because each reclaim would remove a layer of overhead resistance. A decisive move above $6.93 opens the path toward $7.13, which means the pullback would have resolved in favor of the longer uptrend. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds fail beneath $6.60 and price then loses $6.38, pressure should broaden because the nearby shelf would no longer be defending the range. Losing $6.38 exposes $5.97, where the lower boundary becomes the next meaningful support.

The main risk to the cautious view is a rapid recovery above $6.60 followed by acceptance through $6.93, because that sequence would invalidate the idea that overhead supply remains in control. Conversely, a sustained break under $6.38 would invalidate the constructive longer-trend interpretation and shift attention decisively toward $5.97. Net, Copper remains a broader uptrend undergoing a meaningful pullback, but at $6.40 the burden is on price to defend $6.38 and recover $6.60 before confidence can improve.
