The US Dollar Index is stabilising, but it has not yet regained full control of its short-term structure. The last price is 101.82 after finishing the last session 0.2 percent higher, and it is sitting mid-range over the past month. That positioning matters because the recovery lacks the authority of a range breakout. The one month average is 101.93; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. The clear view is cautiously constructive, provided nearby support continues to absorb pressure.
Price action has been roughly 0.4 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the latest rise looks more like stabilisation than a confirmed acceleration. For the dollar, the shared macro backdrop matters only where changing expectations for policy, growth, and relative returns alter demand for US currency exposure. The instrument-specific tension is therefore between a longer upward trend and softer recent participation, because DXY must demonstrate that the pullback is ending before the broader advance can resume with conviction.
The first test is the nearer round number handle at 102.00, because holding above it would show that demand can reclaim psychologically important ground and begin challenging the upper part of the range. The month swing high is 102.94, about 1.1 percent above the current price, and it is the central resistance because previous upward progress stopped there. On the downside, a shelf of support at 100.87, about 0.9 percent below, is the key defence of the constructive view. The other nearer round number handle at 100.00 matters because a retreat through it would confirm that weakness is spreading beyond an ordinary pullback.
The wider three month range is 98.56 to 102.94, which means the market remains contained until one boundary gives way decisively. The bull path is straightforward: if 102.00 is reclaimed and sustained, then pressure can rebuild against the upper boundary; a decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward 104.00, because that would resolve the established range upward and reinforce the longer rising structure. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds repeatedly fail beneath 102.00 and pressure reaches the lower shelf, then losing 100.87 exposes 98.56, because the main support separating a controlled pullback from a deeper range reversal would have failed.
The principal risk is false resolution around 102.00, because repeated moves through that handle without sustained follow-through could leave DXY trapped and directionless. A rejection from 102.94 would preserve the range and keep the pullback active, while sustained weakness beneath 100.87 would invalidate the cautiously constructive stance. Conversely, firm acceptance above 102.94 would invalidate the bearish range argument. Net, 101.82 supports patience with a modest upward bias: the longer trend remains favourable, but the dollar must recover 101.93 and establish control above 102.00 before the case for 104.00 becomes compelling.
Key levels: support 100.87 (0.9% below), resistance 102.94 (1.1% above), one-month average 101.93, three-month range 98.56 to 102.94.
