GBP/USD – Daily Read

24 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
1.3371

GBP/USD is challenging the upper edge of its one-month range, but the move is not yet a clean breakout. Last price is 1.3371 after finishing the last session 0.2 percent lower, which means sterling retains a constructive position despite some hesitation near resistance. The clear view is cautiously bullish while the pair holds above its recent center of gravity, because pressure near the top of a range often precedes expansion, but repeated failure there can quickly turn strength into exhaustion.

The recovery has substance because GBP/USD is roughly 1.0 percent up over the last two weeks and sits above the one month average at 1.3273. That places the pair back on firmer short-term ground, while remaining under the longer one, which means this is still a recovery attempt rather than an established broader advance. The macro influence is the relative repricing of UK and US rate expectations, because currency direction here depends on which side offers the more durable yield and growth narrative.

Immediate resistance is concentrated around the nearer round number handle at 1.3400 and the month swing high at 1.3418, about 0.4 percent above the current price. The first matters because round numbers often attract defensive flows and profit-taking, while the second defines the actual range boundary that has contained the advance. A decisive move through 1.3418 would signal that overhead supply has been absorbed. On weakness, 1.3200 is the first nearer round number handle to watch because holding it would preserve the recovery structure. Below that, the shelf of support at 1.3139, about 1.7 percent below, is the critical defense. The full Three month range is 1.3139 to 1.3675, which means those endpoints define the larger balance now governing risk.

The bull path is straightforward: if GBP/USD clears 1.3400 and then makes a decisive move above 1.3418, the path opens toward 1.3675 because the pair would have escaped the one-month ceiling and moved into the upper portion of its Three month range. Progress should then be judged by whether former resistance begins acting as support. The bear path begins if rejection around 1.3400 and 1.3418 pushes price back beneath 1.3273. If 1.3200 then fails, pressure would shift toward 1.3139 because the recovery would have lost both its recent center and its nearer psychological defense. Losing 1.3139 exposes 1.3000.

The main risk to the constructive view is a sharp reversal in relative UK and US expectations, because GBP/USD can abandon a technically promising position when the rate narrative moves against sterling. The bullish read is invalidated by sustained trade below 1.3139, which means the recovery attempt has failed and 1.3000 becomes exposed. Conversely, the bearish case loses credibility above 1.3418, with 1.3675 then the relevant resistance. Net, the pair remains constructive above 1.3273, but conviction requires a decisive break of 1.3418.
