FTSE 100 (UKX) – Daily Read
24 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk
10,690.4
The FTSE 100 is attempting to rebuild upward momentum rather than beginning a clean breakout. Last price 10,690; last session change: 0.3 percent lower. That modest retreat does not overturn the recovery attempt because the index is holding in the upper half of its one-month range and remains above the One month average 10,636. The clear view is cautiously constructive: resilience above the recent mean keeps upward pressure alive, but conviction should remain measured while price is still under the longer one.
Momentum roughly 1.3 percent up over the last two weeks supports that interpretation because recent demand has been strong enough to repair some damage, although not strong enough to establish clear control. The macro backdrop matters chiefly through sterling, global yields and international risk appetite because the FTSE 100 is an exporter-heavy index whose constituents translate overseas revenues back into pounds. For this instrument specifically, the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one, which means the asset class is balancing improving near-term participation against unresolved overhead pressure.
The nearer round number handles at 10,750 and 10,500 define the immediate contest because they separate continuation from another loss of momentum. Sustained strength through 10,750 would show that the latest weakness has been absorbed and would place the Month swing high 10,892, about 1.9 percent above the current price, under direct pressure. Conversely, 10,500 matters as the nearer defensive area because holding it would preserve the sequence of recovery. Below there, A shelf of support at 10,367, about 3.0 percent below, carries greater structural weight. The Three month range 10,367 to 10,990 makes that shelf the lower boundary of the broader balance, which means a failure there would represent more than ordinary noise.
The bull path is straightforward: if 10,500 contains weakness and price then reclaims 10,750 with persistence, the recovery should retest 10,892 because overhead supply would have been progressively absorbed. A decisive move above 10,892 opens the path toward 10,990, and acceptance there would indicate that the broader range is being challenged from a position of strength. The bear path begins if 10,750 repeatedly caps advances and 10,500 gives way, because that sequence would question the durability of the move above 10,636. Losing 10,367 exposes 10,250, which means the recovery thesis would have failed and downside pressure would again be dominant.
The principal risk to the constructive view is that the 0.3 percent lower session develops into sustained rejection beneath 10,750 because that would reveal weak follow-through despite the recent rebound. The read is invalidated by a decisive loss of 10,367, while a firm break above 10,892 would invalidate the cautious element and strengthen the bull case. Net, the FTSE 100 retains a positive near-term bias above 10,636, but it still needs to clear resistance before recovery becomes durable.
Key levels: support 10,367 (3.0% below), resistance 10,892 (1.9% above), one-month average 10,636, three-month range 10,367 to 10,990.
