EUR/USD – Daily Read

1.1204
EUR/USD is leaning lower rather than breaking down, with the last price at 1.1204 after finishing the last session 0.1 percent lower. It is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, which matters because the market is accepting weaker prices without yet accelerating through major support. The clear view is cautiously bearish while price remains beneath the central reference points, but the limited pace of deterioration argues against treating the decline as decisive.
The one month average is 1.1238, and price is below it, while the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. The pair is roughly 0.01 percent down over the last two weeks, which means direction has been negative but conviction has been thin. The macro backdrop matters only insofar as shifting relative growth and policy expectations alter demand for euros versus dollars, because this market currently reflects a mild preference for the dollar rather than an aggressive repricing. That distinction is important in foreign exchange, where a slow grind can reverse quickly if the relative outlook changes.
The nearest tactical reference is 1.1200, which matters because it is a round number handle sitting almost directly beneath 1.1204. Holding around it would suggest that near-term pressure is being absorbed, while sustained acceptance below it would keep attention on a shelf of support at 1.1117, about 0.8 percent below. That shelf is critical because it is also the bottom of the Three month range 1.1117 to 1.1715, so it represents more than a routine pause point. On the upside, 1.1400 is the first round number handle likely to meet supply, with the month swing high at 1.1413, about 1.9 percent above the current price. That area matters because clearing both references would overturn the recent pattern of lower acceptance and show that euro demand has regained control.
The bull path is straightforward: if 1.1200 holds and EUR/USD recovers through 1.1238, then the immediate bearish pressure fades and the market can test 1.1400. If that handle is absorbed and a decisive move above 1.1413 follows, it opens the path toward 1.1715 because the month ceiling would have failed and the upper boundary of the broader range would become the next meaningful reference. The bear path begins if 1.1200 gives way and rebounds cannot reclaim it. If that weakness then carries through 1.1117, losing 1.1117 exposes 1.1000 because the established range floor would no longer be defending the pair.
The main risk to the bearish reading is that subdued downside progress becomes evidence of exhaustion rather than resilience from the dollar. A sustained recovery above 1.1238 would weaken the immediate case, while acceptance above 1.1413 would invalidate it because the defining month high would have broken. Conversely, failure at 1.1200 followed by a clean loss of 1.1117 would confirm that the quiet decline is becoming a broader extension. The net take is cautious downside pressure from 1.1204, but 1.1117 remains the line separating a contained retreat from a materially weaker phase.
Key levels: support 1.1117 (0.8% below), resistance 1.1413 (1.9% above), one-month average 1.1238, three-month range 1.1117 to 1.1715.
