STOXX 600 (SXXP) – Daily Read

2 November 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
646.8

The STOXX 600 is attempting to turn recovery into a broader European advance, but the move still needs confirmation. At 646.8 after finishing the last session 0.4 percent lower, it is pressing the top of its one-month range, which means supply near the range ceiling is now more important than the modest daily setback. The clear view is constructive while price holds its recently regained ground, although conviction should remain measured until the ceiling gives way. This matters because SXXP represents 600 European companies across countries and sectors, not the narrower Euro Stoxx 50, so a confirmed break would carry meaningful breadth.

The immediate catalyst is the contest between improving participation across European equities and resistance left by the prior decline. The one month average at 638.2 has been recovered, which means the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. Momentum is roughly 0.3 percent up over the last two weeks, because the rebound has developed gradually rather than through a sharp burst. The macro backdrop matters only insofar as uncertainty around European growth, policy and corporate delivery keeps investors selective, making broad-index confirmation more valuable than strength concentrated in a few large names.

The first test is the 650.0 round number handle because it sits directly beneath the month swing high at 650.9, about 0.6 percent above the current price. That area is resistance where prior supply can reappear, and sustained acceptance beyond it would show that the market is no longer merely probing the range ceiling. On the downside, 640.0 is the nearer round number handle because it sits close to recently recovered ground and can reveal whether shallow weakness is being absorbed. Below there, 638.2 matters as the one month average, which means a loss would weaken the recovery attempt and return price to a less convincing position. The more important support is the shelf at 622.9, about 3.7 percent below, because it is also the floor of the three month range of 622.9 to 663.4. Its defence preserves the broader base, while a break would signal that the range has failed rather than merely stretched.

The bull path is straightforward: if SXXP moves decisively above 650.9 and then holds 650.0 on a retest, the path opens toward 663.4 because overhead supply from the one-month range would have been cleared and the upper boundary of the three month range becomes the next reference. The bear path begins if 640.0 fails and price cannot recover 638.2, which means the rebound has lost its footing. If weakness then extends through 622.9, it exposes 612.9 because the established three month floor would no longer be containing pressure.

The main risk to the constructive read is a false break above 650.9 followed by a rapid reversal beneath 640.0, because that would show exhaustion rather than expansion. A sustained loss of 638.2 would make the recovery interpretation less credible, while losing 622.9 would invalidate it outright and shift attention to 612.9. Net, the STOXX 600 remains cautiously constructive near 646.8, but confirmation requires resistance to become support; until then, this is a promising recovery attempt inside a larger range, not yet a completed breakout.
