Silver (XAG/USD) – Daily Read
31 October 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk
$49.13
Silver is under acute pressure at $49.13 after finishing the last session 5.9 percent lower, and the decisive message is that downside control remains intact until price can rebuild above nearby resistance. It is down near the floor of its one-month range, which means the market has little room for further weakness before testing whether current holders will defend the range boundary. That matters because failure here would convert a sharp correction into a fresh leg lower, while stabilization could produce a forceful rebound from deeply compressed positioning.
The macro backdrop matters only insofar as uncertainty around rates, currencies, and global demand can amplify moves in precious metals, but silver’s immediate catalyst is liquidation after an extended retreat from elevated prices. The one month average is $57.00, and price is below it, while the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. The decline is roughly 13.8 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the latest session was an acceleration of existing weakness rather than an isolated shock. Silver’s industrial exposure also makes demand expectations relevant because it can trade differently from a purely defensive precious metal when growth confidence deteriorates.
The first battle is around the nearer round number handles at $50.00 and $49.00. The $50.00 handle is immediate resistance because reclaiming it would show that the breakdown is losing force and that sellers are no longer controlling every recovery. A shelf of support at $49.13, about 0.01 percent below, is critical because it coincides with the last price and the bottom of the three month range of $49.13 to $77.48. Losing that shelf exposes $49.00, which means even a small initial break could carry disproportionate significance as confidence in the range floor gives way.
The bull path requires stabilization above $49.13 followed by acceptance through $50.00, because that sequence would show support holding and near-term pressure easing. From there, $57.00 becomes the key test of whether the recovery is merely corrective or the structure is genuinely improving. The month swing high is $68.11, about 38.6 percent above the current price, so reaching it would require sustained demand rather than a short-lived bounce. If a decisive move above $68.11 develops, then the path opens toward $77.48 because the prior ceiling would have been cleared and the upper boundary of the three month range would become relevant again.
The bear path is simpler: if $49.13 fails decisively, then $49.00 is exposed because the established range floor and its nearest psychological handle would both be under pressure. A brief move below support followed by a rapid recovery would invalidate the immediate bearish extension, while sustained trade back above $57.00 would challenge the broader downtrend read. Conversely, repeated failure beneath $50.00 would keep rebounds vulnerable. Net, silver remains bearish while below $57.00, but the proximity of $49.13 makes this a pivotal test where either firm defense or clean failure should define the next directional phase.
Key levels: support $49.13 (0.01% below), resistance $68.11 (38.6% above), one-month average $57.00, three-month range $49.13 to $77.48.
