Gold (XAU/USD) – Daily Read
3 November 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk
$3,936.10
Gold is trading at $3,936, 0.5 percent lower in the last session, and the balance of evidence remains bearish because the market is down near the floor of its one-month range rather than stabilising in the middle of it. That matters because weakness at the bottom of a range often reflects persistent pressure, not merely routine consolidation. The clear view is that gold must first reclaim nearby lost ground before the decline can be treated as exhausted.
The broader macro backdrop matters only insofar as shifting expectations for real yields, the dollar and defensive demand are failing to generate a durable haven response, which means gold is currently trading more like a pressured momentum asset. Its one month average is $4,091, price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum is roughly 5.0 percent down over the last two weeks, which means rebounds face the burden of proving that underlying demand has returned rather than merely reflecting short covering.
The first nearby test is $4,000, because that round number separates the current weak posture from an initial attempt to rebuild confidence. Holding above it would improve the immediate tone, but $4,091 remains the more meaningful recovery threshold because sustained acceptance there would challenge the pattern of price remaining below its recent reference points. Below spot, $3,900 is the first psychological support and should attract defensive interest because it sits just above a shelf of support at $3,885, about 1.3 percent below. The full three month range is $3,885 to $4,755, which means the market is already pressing the lower boundary of a broad distribution. Losing that boundary would turn range weakness into a fresh downside extension.
The bull path is straightforward: if gold defends $3,900 and $3,885, then recovers $4,000 and establishes itself above $4,091, the pressure should ease because the market would have reclaimed both psychological ground and its one-month reference. The month swing high at $4,259, about 8.2 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because it marks the point beyond which the prevailing downtrend would be materially challenged. A decisive move above $4,259 opens the path toward $4,755. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds fail beneath $4,000 or $4,091 and pressure returns, then losing $3,885 exposes $3,800 because the established range floor would no longer be containing supply.
The main risk to the bearish read is a sharp reversal in the forces driving the dollar, yields or defensive demand, because gold can reprice quickly when those relationships turn together. Price action would invalidate the immediate negative view through sustained strength above $4,091, while a decisive move above $4,259 would invalidate the broader downtrend case. Until that happens, the net take remains cautious below resistance, with $3,885 carrying greater significance than any isolated bounce because its defence keeps the range intact and its failure confirms another leg lower.
Key levels: support $3,885 (1.3% below), resistance $4,259 (8.2% above), one-month average $4,091, three-month range $3,885 to $4,755.
