EUR/USD – Daily Read

1.1142
EUR/USD is under pressure at 1.1142 after finishing the last session 0.7 percent lower, and the balance of risk remains tilted downward because the pair is trading near the floor of its one-month range rather than stabilising after the decline. Momentum is roughly 0.6 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the latest weakness is part of a sustained loss of traction, not merely a single-session shock. The clear view is that rallies remain vulnerable until price can recover the nearby overhead zone and demonstrate that euro demand is absorbing persistent dollar strength.
The relevant macro channel is the market’s shifting view of relative rate expectations, because currencies respond to changes in the expected return advantage between regions even when no fresh macro figure is cited. For EUR/USD specifically, price is below its one month average of 1.1195 and under both its one-month and longer averages, which means the structure reads as a downtrend across more than one horizon. That alignment matters for the broader Forex complex because sustained dollar demand against the euro can reinforce defensive positioning elsewhere, while a credible euro recovery would signal that the pressure is becoming less concentrated.
The first support is the shelf at 1.1114, about 0.3 percent below the current price, because it is both the floor of the three month range of 1.1114 to 1.1715 and the nearest area where prior demand must reappear. Holding it would preserve the possibility of a rebound, but repeated tests would weaken its defensive value. The round number handle at 1.1000 is the next important support because losing 1.1114 exposes 1.1000 and would confirm that the established range has failed. Overhead, 1.1200 matters as the nearest round number handle because reclaiming it would place price back above 1.1195 and reduce immediate downside pressure. The month swing high at 1.1275, about 1.2 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because a move through it would overturn the sequence of weakness and reopen the upper range.
The bull path is straightforward: if 1.1114 holds and EUR/USD retakes 1.1200, then pressure should ease because price would have reclaimed 1.1195 and forced the market to reassess the downtrend. If that recovery becomes a decisive move above 1.1275, then the path opens toward 1.1715 because the month swing high would no longer contain the advance. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds fail below 1.1200 and price loses 1.1114, then 1.1000 becomes exposed because the three month floor would have broken and defensive euro demand would have failed where it was most needed.
The principal risk to the bearish read is a rapid recovery through 1.1275, because that would invalidate the current lower structure and shift attention toward 1.1715. Conversely, a temporary hold above 1.1114 would not by itself reverse the trend while price remains below 1.1195 and 1.1200, which means confirmation must come from sustained recovery rather than a brief bounce. Net, EUR/USD remains defensively positioned at 1.1142, with 1.1114 defining whether the range survives and 1.1275 defining whether the downtrend has genuinely ended.
Key levels: support 1.1114 (0.3% below), resistance 1.1275 (1.2% above), one-month average 1.1195, three-month range 1.1114 to 1.1715.
