EUR/GBP – Daily Read

7 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.8344

EUR/GBP is pressing the floor of its one-month range, with the last price at 0.8344 and little changed on the session (under 0.05%). That apparent calm matters because the structure remains a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages, so stability near the lows is not yet evidence of a turn. The clear view is that downside pressure remains dominant while nearby support is intact, leaving the cross compressed between a vulnerable floor and resistance that must be reclaimed before the tone can improve.

The macro backdrop matters only through the relative outlook for the euro and sterling, because EUR/GBP responds to changes in their expected economic and policy paths rather than broad risk sentiment alone. Momentum is roughly 0.4 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the recent move has been persistent without becoming disorderly. The one month average at 0.8385 now sits above price and acts as an immediate test of whether euro weakness against sterling is fading. Until the cross can recover and hold beyond that average, rebounds are more likely to represent consolidation within the decline than a durable shift in direction.

The first defensive shelf is support at 0.8321, about 0.3 percent below, because it is both the lower boundary of the three month range of 0.8321 to 0.8612 and the level preventing the existing decline from extending. Repeated demand around that shelf can keep the market contained, but a clean loss would show that the range floor has failed. The round number handle at 0.8200 would then become the next meaningful reference. On the upside, 0.8400 is the nearer round number handle and an initial obstacle, while the month swing high at 0.8487, about 1.7 percent above the current price, is the more important resistance because clearing it would overturn the sequence of weakness rather than merely relieve it.

The bull path is straightforward: if 0.8321 continues to hold, then a recovery through 0.8385 and sustained acceptance above 0.8400 would indicate that downside pressure is being absorbed. If that recovery develops into a decisive move above 0.8487, then the path opens toward 0.8612 because the month swing high would no longer cap the cross and the upper boundary of the three month range would return to view. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds fail beneath 0.8385 or 0.8400 and the cross then loses 0.8321, that exposes 0.8200 because the established range floor would have given way.

The principal risk to the bearish read is a sharp change in the relative euro and sterling outlook that forces EUR/GBP above 0.8487. That would invalidate the current downtrend view because price would have reclaimed the month swing high and broken away from the one-month floor. Conversely, holding below 0.8385 while pressure builds against 0.8321 would reinforce the downside case. Net, 0.8321 is the immediate line of defence, but the burden remains on the euro side to recover 0.8400 and then 0.8487 before the read can turn constructive.
