EUR/USD – Daily Read

1.1222
EUR/USD is attempting to stabilize rather than confirming a durable reversal. The last price is 1.1222, with the last session change 0.2 percent higher, but it is trading in the lower half of its one-month range. That matters because the recovery is occurring from a position of weakness, leaving the burden of proof on the euro. The clear view is cautiously bearish while price remains beneath the nearby value area, although the latest advance shows that downside control is no longer uncontested.
The immediate catalyst is a modest improvement in euro demand, reflected in momentum roughly 0.6 percent up over the last two weeks. That move has kept the pair near the one month average 1.1230, but price is below it, and the structure reads as a downtrend, price under both its one-month and longer averages. The macro backdrop matters only through relative currency expectations because EUR/USD needs a sustained shift in the balance between euro and dollar demand, rather than a brief relief move, to change that structure.
The first contest is around the nearer round number handle at 1.1200, which matters because holding above it preserves the recent stabilization and keeps pressure on 1.1230. Repeated failure around that average would show that overhead supply remains active. Higher up, the nearer round number handle at 1.1400 is the first serious test before the month swing high 1.1413, about 1.7 percent above the current price. That zone is resistance because it marks the point where a recovery would begin challenging the prevailing downtrend. Below, a shelf of support at 1.1117, about 0.9 percent below, is the key defense. It is also the floor of the three month range 1.1117 to 1.1715, which means a failure there would represent more than ordinary range noise.
The bull path is straightforward: if 1.1200 continues to hold and price regains 1.1230 with persistence, then the rebound can extend toward 1.1400 because acceptance above the recent average would weaken the case that every recovery is being capped. If that pressure produces a decisive move above 1.1413, it opens the path toward 1.1715, with the former month high then expected to act as support. The bear path begins if 1.1230 keeps rejecting advances and 1.1200 gives way, which means attention shifts rapidly to 1.1117. If that shelf fails decisively, losing 1.1117 exposes 1.1000 because the three-month floor would no longer be containing the decline.
The principal risk to the cautious bearish view is sustained acceptance above 1.1413, which would invalidate the current reading by breaking the month’s upper boundary and restoring scope toward 1.1715. Conversely, a brief move beneath 1.1117 that quickly recovers would warn against treating the first break as conclusive because failed range breaks can reverse sharply. Net, 1.1222 leaves EUR/USD balanced close to immediate support but still structurally weak, so the read remains defensive below 1.1230 and turns materially stronger only beyond 1.1413.
Key levels: support 1.1117 (0.9% below), resistance 1.1413 (1.7% above), one-month average 1.1230, three-month range 1.1117 to 1.1715.
