EUR/USD – Daily Read

1.1201
EUR/USD is leaning lower rather than breaking down, with the last price at 1.1201 after finishing the last session 0.2 percent lower. It is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, which means the burden remains on the euro to prove that demand can regain control. The clear view is cautiously bearish while price remains beneath nearby reference points, but the downside is not yet decisive because an established support shelf still separates orderly weakness from a deeper extension.
In the broader macro backdrop, changes in relative rate expectations and dollar demand matter because EUR/USD directly expresses the market’s preference between the two currencies. The one month average at 1.1238 is above price, and the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum is roughly 0.04 percent down over the last two weeks, which means pressure is persistent but not forceful enough to suggest capitulation. That distinction matters: the pair is drifting lower, so a catalyst that strengthens dollar demand could accelerate the move, while any improvement in euro demand would first need to repair the nearby structure.
The immediate pivot is the round number handle at 1.1200 because the market is sitting almost directly on it, making acceptance below or recovery above it an important signal of short-term control. The shelf of support at 1.1117, about 0.7 percent below, is more consequential because it is also the floor of the three month range at 1.1117 to 1.1715. That overlap should encourage determined defense, while a clean failure would indicate that the broader range has resolved lower. On the upside, the round number handle at 1.1400 is the first meaningful barrier, but the month swing high at 1.1413, about 1.9 percent above the current price, is the level that confirms whether the downtrend has genuinely been overturned.
The bullish path is straightforward: if EUR/USD reclaims 1.1200, holds above 1.1238, and then clears 1.1400, pressure should shift toward the range ceiling because successive resistance points would have become support. A decisive move above 1.1413 opens the path toward 1.1715, which means the market would be transitioning from recovery into a broader upside range expansion. The bearish path begins if rebounds repeatedly fail beneath 1.1238 and price returns to 1.1117. Losing 1.1117 exposes 1.1000 because the three month floor would no longer be containing weakness, leaving the next round number handle as the natural downside reference.
The principal risk to the bearish view is a sustained recovery through 1.1413 because that would invalidate the sequence of lower positioning and establish control above the month swing high. The bullish alternative is invalidated by a decisive loss of 1.1117, which means range support has failed rather than merely been tested. Net, EUR/USD remains vulnerable below 1.1238, but conviction should stay measured until either 1.1413 or 1.1117 resolves the contest.
Key levels: support 1.1117 (0.7% below), resistance 1.1413 (1.9% above), one-month average 1.1238, three-month range 1.1117 to 1.1715.
