EUR/GBP – Daily Read

4 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.8347

EUR/GBP is trying to stabilize at 0.8347 after finishing the last session 0.1 percent higher, but the balance of evidence still favors sterling strength because the cross remains down near the floor of its one-month range rather than recovering into the middle of it. That matters because a modest positive session can reflect short covering or position adjustment, while the broader structure says euro rebounds are still meeting supply. The clear view is cautious on the cross unless it can reclaim important overhead ground and hold it.

The macro backdrop matters only insofar as relative euro-area and UK rate expectations are driving the currencies in opposite directions, which means the cross can weaken even when both move similarly against the dollar. Here, the instrument-specific message is that 0.8347 sits below the one month average at 0.8398, with price under both its one-month and longer averages, so the structure reads as a downtrend because rallies have not repaired the sequence of lower trading zones. Momentum is roughly 0.5 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the latest bounce has not erased persistent pressure.

The first meaningful defense is the shelf of support at 0.8321, about 0.3 percent below, because it is also the floor of the three month range of 0.8321 to 0.8612. Holding there would show that sterling strength is no longer translating cleanly into fresh lows and could force a broader reset. The nearer round number handle at 0.8400 is the first overhead test because reclaiming it would move price back above 0.8398 and weaken the immediate bearish message. Above that, the month swing high at 0.8493, about 1.7 percent above the current price, is decisive resistance because clearing it would overturn the recent range behavior. The lower round number handle at 0.8200 matters because there is little stated support between it and a failed 0.8321.

The bull path is straightforward: if 0.8321 continues to absorb pressure, then a sustained recovery through 0.8400 would signal that the floor is gaining credibility and that the pull toward 0.8398 has become a genuine repair. If that strength extends into a decisive move above 0.8493, then the path opens toward 0.8612 because the month swing high would no longer cap the cross and the upper end of the three month range would become the next reference. The bear path is equally clean: if attempts above 0.8400 fail and 0.8347 gives way, then another test of 0.8321 is likely; losing 0.8321 exposes 0.8200, which means the established downtrend is extending rather than merely probing its range floor.

The main risk to the bearish read is a durable shift in relative euro and sterling expectations, expressed first through acceptance above 0.8400 and confirmed by a decisive move above 0.8493, because that would break the pattern that has kept price below 0.8398 and the longer averages. Conversely, repeated defense of 0.8321 alone would not fully reverse the downtrend, but it would reduce confidence in immediate continuation toward 0.8200 because pressure would be failing at the same floor. Net, EUR/GBP remains vulnerable while below 0.8400, with 0.8321 separating consolidation from another leg lower and 0.8493 the level that would invalidate the bearish view and reopen 0.8612.
