EUR/GBP – Daily Read

0.8375
EUR/GBP is pressing the floor of its recent range at 0.8375, little changed on the session (under 0.05%), but the quiet headline masks persistent downside pressure because the cross remains near its one-month low after repeatedly failing to recover lost ground. The clear view is bearish while price stays beneath nearby resistance, with limited room for complacency because support is close enough that a modest move could force a larger repricing rather than another contained session.
The broader macro backdrop matters through relative expectations for UK and euro-area growth and policy, because EUR/GBP responds to the gap between the two currencies rather than the direction of either one in isolation. The cross is roughly 0.9 percent down over the last two weeks and below its one month average of 0.8443, which means sterling continues to hold the relative advantage. Price is also under both its one-month and longer averages, so the structure reads as a downtrend rather than a temporary retreat within an established advance.
The immediate battleground is the shelf of support at 0.8361, about 0.2 percent below, because it is both the bottom of the three month range of 0.8361 to 0.8612 and the nearest point where recent demand has consistently prevented continuation. The 0.8400 handle is the first resistance on any rebound because reclaiming it would move price away from the range floor and reduce immediate downside pressure. Above there, 0.8443 is more consequential because recovery through the recent average would challenge the pattern of weak rebounds. The month swing high at 0.8603, about 2.7 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because clearing it would break the sequence that currently defines the decline. The 0.8200 handle matters beneath support because it is the next major round-number reference once the existing range floor gives way.
The bull path is straightforward: if 0.8361 continues to hold and EUR/GBP reclaims 0.8400, then pressure can build toward 0.8443 because traders would have evidence that the range floor is producing more than a brief pause. If strength then extends through 0.8603, the downtrend is no longer the controlling structure, and a decisive move above 0.8603 opens the path toward 0.8803. The bear path has the cleaner alignment: if rebounds fail beneath 0.8400 and price returns to 0.8361, then losing 0.8361 exposes 0.8200 because the three-month floor would have broken without another established support inside the supplied range.
The main risk is a false break around 0.8361, because proximity to a well-defined floor can produce sharp reversals even when the broader direction remains lower. A sustained recovery above 0.8443 would weaken the bearish read, while acceptance above 0.8603 would invalidate it because price would have cleared the month swing high and escaped the recent range structure. Until either happens, the net take remains bearish: 0.8361 is vulnerable, 0.8400 caps the first recovery test, and the burden remains on the euro to prove that 0.8375 is a durable floor rather than a pause before 0.8200.
Key levels: support 0.8361 (0.2% below), resistance 0.8603 (2.7% above), one-month average 0.8443, three-month range 0.8361 to 0.8612.
