US Dollar Index (DXY) – Daily Read

31 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$101.93

The US Dollar Index is consolidating rather than reversing, with the last price at 101.93 and the last session 0.1 percent higher. The constructive longer trend still deserves respect, but the immediate tone is softer because price is trading in the lower half of its one-month range and has slipped beneath a key reference point. That matters because dollar strength has paused without yet producing the kind of structural damage that would hand control decisively to the bearish side.

The tension comes from a pullback inside a broader advance. The one month average is 102.04; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 0.2 percent up over the last two weeks, which means the dollar has retained a modest positive bias even as near-term progress has stalled. The macro backdrop matters only where changing rate expectations and haven demand alter relative demand for the dollar, because those forces can determine whether this pause becomes renewed strength or a deeper retracement.

The first nearby test is the round number handle at 102.00, which matters because reclaiming and holding it would place price back above an important psychological dividing line and closer to the one month average at 102.04. Above there, the month swing high is 102.94, about 1.0 percent above the current price, and it is also the upper boundary of the three month range of 98.56 to 102.94. That overlap makes 102.94 meaningful resistance because it represents both the recent peak and the edge of the broader range. A decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward 104.00, which means the longer uptrend would be reasserting itself through a clean range expansion.

On the downside, a shelf of support sits at 101.45, about 0.5 percent below, and it matters because it is the nearest area capable of showing that demand remains active beneath the current pullback. If 101.45 holds and price recovers 102.00, then the bull path is a retest of 102.04 followed by renewed pressure on 102.94; if that resistance then gives way decisively, 104.00 becomes the next path. If 101.45 fails, then the bear path strengthens because losing 101.45 exposes 98.56, with the round number handle at 100.00 likely to become an important contest along that decline.

The main risk to the constructive view is sustained acceptance below 101.45, because that would turn a contained pullback into a broader breakdown and shift attention from 102.94 toward 98.56. Conversely, the bearish read would be invalidated by a decisive move above 102.94, which means the range ceiling has failed and 104.00 is in play. Net, DXY remains cautiously constructive above 101.45, but conviction requires a recovery through 102.00 and 102.04 before the longer uptrend can resume with authority.
