$102.07
The US Dollar Index is holding a constructive but not yet decisive posture at 102.07, with the last session 0.1 percent higher. The clear view is that underlying dollar demand remains intact because price is above its one month average of 102.01 and above its longer averages, leaving the structure as a clean uptrend. Yet it is sitting mid-range over the past month, so confirmation still requires an escape from the recent boundaries rather than simple resilience around current levels.
In the broader macro backdrop, shifting expectations for relative growth, policy, and defensive demand matter because currencies respond to changes in the dollar’s appeal against its peers. The instrument-specific signal is consolidation above 102.01 even as momentum is roughly 0.1 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the advance has paused without producing a meaningful structural reversal. That tension explains the current market: the dollar retains an upward bias, but participation has not yet been forceful enough to clear the month’s ceiling.
The immediate pivot is the 102.00 round number handle because it sits just beneath 102.07 and closely aligns with the one month average of 102.01. Holding this cluster preserves the impression that modest weakness is being absorbed. Above, the month swing high at 102.94 stands about 0.9 percent above the current price and also marks the upper boundary of the three month range of 98.56 to 102.94. It matters because repeated failure there would reinforce range behavior, while a decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward the next round number handle at 104.00. Below, the shelf of support at 100.87, about 1.2 percent below, is the more important structural defense because losing it would show that weakness has spread well beyond a routine test of 102.00.
The bull path is straightforward: if 102.00 and 102.01 continue to hold, then pressure can rebuild against 102.94 because the broader upward structure remains intact. If 102.94 gives way decisively, then 104.00 becomes the logical next area of resistance as the market leaves the recent range ceiling behind. The bear path begins if 102.00 fails and price cannot quickly recover 102.01, because that would weaken the near-term base. If that deterioration extends through 100.87, then 98.56 is exposed, with the move implying a full rotation toward the bottom of the three month range rather than a shallow pullback.
The main risk to the constructive read is continued rejection below 102.94 followed by sustained trade under 102.00, because that sequence would turn stalled progress into distribution across the range. A decisive loss of 100.87 would invalidate the clean uptrend interpretation and expose 98.56, while acceptance above 102.94 would invalidate the range-bound caution and strengthen the case for 104.00. Net, the dollar remains positively structured above 102.01, but conviction belongs to whichever side resolves the 100.87 to 102.94 range.
Key levels: support 100.87 (1.2% below), resistance 102.94 (0.9% above), one-month average 102.01, three-month range 98.56 to 102.94.
