DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

25,818.2
DAX 40 is attempting to reassert an upward structure rather than beginning a clean reversal, because the last price at 25,818 remains in the upper half of its one-month range despite finishing the last session 0.9 percent lower. The clear view is constructive but conditional: recent weakness looks like pressure within a recovery attempt, not yet a decisive loss of control, while the proximity of overhead resistance means follow-through now matters more than resilience alone.
The macro backdrop matters through its effect on European growth expectations, financing conditions and global demand, because the DAX has meaningful exposure to exporters and cyclical businesses. The instrument-specific catalyst is therefore whether that exposure attracts renewed participation after the setback. Momentum is roughly 0.8 percent up over the last two weeks, which means the latest decline has interrupted, rather than erased, the recent improvement. The one month average at 25,388 reinforces that distinction: price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one.
The first immediate test is the 26,000 round number handle, because holding above it would show that the market can absorb supply close to the recent peak. The month swing high at 26,106, about 1.1 percent above the current price, is the more important resistance because it marks where the recovery has previously stalled. A decisive move above 26,106 opens the path toward 26,619, the upper boundary of the three month range from 24,697 to 26,619. Below current price, 25,500 is the nearer round number handle and should act as the first line of support because it sits between spot and the one month average. The shelf at 24,793, about 4.0 percent below, is the deeper structural support because it stands just above the lower end of that broader range.
The bull path is straightforward: if DAX stabilises above 25,500, continues to hold above 25,388 and then clears 26,000, the recovery should retest 26,106 because those steps would show progressively stronger acceptance at higher prices. If 26,106 then gives way decisively, 26,619 becomes the logical next resistance because it defines the three month range ceiling. The bear path begins if 25,500 fails and price cannot reclaim 25,388, which means the recovery attempt has lost its immediate foundation. If pressure then breaks 24,793, it exposes 24,293 because the established support shelf would no longer be containing downside.
The main risk to the constructive read is repeated rejection between 26,000 and 26,106, because failure there would confirm that overhead supply still controls the upper range. A sustained move below 25,388 would weaken the recovery case, while losing 24,793 would invalidate it and shift attention to 24,293. Net, DAX remains cautiously constructive above its one month average, but conviction requires a decisive break of 26,106 because resilience below resistance is not the same as control above it.
Key levels: support 24,793 (4.0% below), resistance 26,106 (1.1% above), one-month average 25,388, three-month range 24,697 to 26,619.
