DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

28 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
25,590.8

DAX 40 is trying to turn recovery into a clean upside extension, with the last price at 25,591 after finishing the last session 0.7 percent higher. It is pressing the top of its one-month range, which means the market is testing whether recent strength reflects durable demand or merely a rebound into supply. The view is cautiously bullish while price holds its nearby ground, because acceptance above the range ceiling would improve the structure materially, while rejection would leave the index vulnerable to another rotation lower.

The recovery attempt has substance but is not yet fully confirmed. Momentum is roughly 1.3 percent up over the last two weeks, while the one month average is 25,308 and price is above it. The structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one, which means short-term control has improved without resolving the broader contest. That distinction matters because European equities need continued participation in economically sensitive and export-heavy shares for the DAX 40 to sustain progress rather than simply revisit the upper end of its recent range.

The first meaningful test is the month swing high at 25,729, about 0.5 percent above the current price, because that is where the recovery meets the clearest recent supply. The nearer round number handles at 26,000 and 25,500 help define control: holding above 25,500 keeps pressure on resistance, while acceptance beyond 26,000 would show that strength is broadening rather than fading at the first obstacle. The wider three month range is 24,697 to 26,619, which means 26,619 is the major upside boundary rather than just another nearby reference. Below, a shelf of support at 24,793, about 3.1 percent below, matters because it sits close to the lower portion of that broader range and should attract a firmer defence if the recovery remains valid.

The bull path is straightforward: if DAX 40 holds 25,500 and posts a decisive move above 25,729, then the path opens through 26,000 toward 26,619 because the market will have cleared the one-month ceiling and demonstrated acceptance beyond recent supply. Progress may still be uneven near each handle, but repeated closes above 25,729 would make pullbacks look corrective rather than structural. The bear path begins if price cannot retain 25,500 and retreats through 25,308, because that would unwind the recovery signal and return attention to 24,793. If 24,793 is then lost decisively, 24,293 becomes exposed, which means the market would have broken beneath its established support shelf and moved beyond the stated three month range floor of 24,697.

The main risk to the constructive view is a failed breakout, particularly if strength above 25,729 quickly reverses below 25,500, because that would reveal insufficient demand near the range top. The bullish read is invalidated by a sustained loss of 24,793, while the bearish case is weakened by firm acceptance above 26,000 and ultimately 26,619. Net, DAX 40 retains an upside bias at 25,591, but conviction belongs to confirmation above 25,729, with 24,793 remaining the decisive line separating recovery from renewed deterioration.
