DAX 40 (DAX) – Daily Read

25,622.6
The DAX 40 is attempting to convert recovery into a broader advance, with the last price at 25,623 after finishing the last session 0.9 percent higher. It is pressing the top of its one-month range, which means the market is testing whether recent strength has enough conviction to overcome nearby supply. The immediate view is constructive but conditional because price has reclaimed an important short-term reference while remaining beneath the level that would confirm a more durable change in trend.
The macro backdrop matters mainly through European risk appetite and the earnings sensitivity of Germany’s export-heavy companies, because shifts in global growth expectations and financial conditions can quickly amplify index moves. The one month average is 25,330; price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. That distinction matters because the recovery has established near-term control without yet resolving the larger overhead pressure. Momentum is roughly 1.7 percent up over the last two weeks, which means participation has improved, although the move now needs confirmation at the range ceiling rather than simply further drift.
The first decision area is 25,500, because this nearer round number handle sits just below the market and should act as the initial line of support if the advance is healthy. Holding it would keep pressure directed toward the month swing high at 25,801, about 0.7 percent above the current price. That high matters because it represents the nearest visible cap on the recovery and the point where hesitant supply has previously contained progress. Above it, 26,000 becomes the next psychological resistance, which means acceptance there would strengthen the case for a test of the upper boundary of the Three month range 24,081 to 26,619. On weakness, a shelf of support at 24,793, about 3.2 percent below, is the more consequential defence because losing it would show that the recovery has failed structurally rather than merely paused.
The bull path is straightforward: if 25,500 holds during any near-term retreat and the index then secures a decisive move above 25,801, the path opens toward 26,619 because the market would have cleared the month’s defining resistance and returned to the top of the broader range. Sustained trade through 26,000 would add credibility, which means supply is being absorbed rather than merely tested. The bear path begins if 25,500 fails to attract durable support. If weakness then extends through 24,793, it exposes 24,081 because the principal shelf beneath the recovery would have broken, leaving the lower boundary of the Three month range as the next meaningful reference.
The main risk is a false break above 25,801 followed by a rapid return beneath 25,500, because that sequence would signal exhaustion near the range top rather than continuation. The constructive read is invalidated more decisively by losing 24,793, which means the market has surrendered both its recovery structure and its key defensive shelf. Net, the DAX remains positively biased while above 25,500, but conviction requires 25,801 to give way before 26,619 becomes the dominant path.
Key levels: support 24,793 (3.2% below), resistance 25,801 (0.7% above), one-month average 25,330, three-month range 24,081 to 26,619.
