Copper – Daily Read

3 November 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$6.42

Copper is under pressure at $6.42, finishing the last session 1.7 percent lower and down near the floor of its one-month range. The clear view is defensive because price is failing to attract sustained demand where a cyclical commodity should normally begin finding sponsorship. That matters beyond the latest decline: weakness near the bottom of a recent range suggests holders are prioritizing protection over anticipation, while potential demand is waiting for stronger evidence that the decline has run its course.

The one month average at $6.57 now sits above price, and the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages. Price has also fallen roughly 2.9 percent over the last two weeks, which means the deterioration is persistent rather than confined to one poor session. For copper, the macro question is whether confidence in global industrial demand can improve enough to reverse that caution. Until it does, rallies are more likely to test conviction than prove that control has changed hands.

The nearer round number handles at $6.60 and $6.40 define the immediate contest because they separate stabilization from continued compression. Reclaiming $6.60 would place price back above the one month average and show that demand can absorb overhead supply. Holding $6.40 preserves the possibility of a base, but the more important shelf of support is $6.38, about 0.7 percent below. That shelf is defended by its proximity to the current range floor and by the expectation of responsive demand there. Above, the month swing high at $6.79, about 5.7 percent above the current price, is the decisive resistance because clearing it would overturn the sequence of weakness. The wider three month range of $6.10 to $6.93 shows why these boundaries matter: copper is trading in its lower half, leaving meaningful space in either direction once the nearby shelf resolves.

The bull path is straightforward: if $6.40 and $6.38 hold, then stabilization can develop, followed by a recovery through $6.57 and $6.60. If that recovery proves durable and a decisive move above $6.79 follows, then the path opens toward $6.93 because the market would have cleared the month’s main supply boundary and restored the upper edge of the broader range as the next resistance. The bear path is equally clear: if copper cannot regain $6.57 and repeatedly stalls below $6.60, then pressure remains concentrated on $6.40 and $6.38. Losing $6.38 exposes $6.10 because the support shelf would have failed with little provided structure between it and the three month low.

The principal risk to the defensive read is a forceful recovery through $6.60 that holds, followed by acceptance above $6.79, because that would invalidate the assumption that rebounds remain constrained and shift control toward $6.93. Conversely, a failure at $6.40 followed by a clean loss of $6.38 would invalidate any stabilization case and make $6.10 the relevant downside reference. Net, copper remains vulnerable while below $6.57 and $6.60, with the burden on demand to defend $6.38 before the broader range floor comes into play.
