Copper – Daily Read
1 November 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk
$6.51
Copper at $6.51 is losing traction, with the last session 1.1 percent lower and price in the lower half of its one-month range. The clear view is cautious because the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages, while momentum is roughly 0.3 percent down over the last two weeks. This is controlled weakness rather than capitulation, but it matters because copper is failing to hold the middle of its recent distribution and has yet to show that demand can absorb persistent pressure.
The immediate issue is the one month average at $6.59, which price remains below and which means the burden of proof stays with the bullish side. Copper often reflects expectations for industrial activity, construction demand, and manufacturing intensity, so the present weakness suggests that confidence in near-term physical demand is not strong enough to overcome available supply. The nearer $6.60 round number handle reinforces that message because it sits just above the average and now acts as a practical test of whether the asset class can regain traction rather than merely stage a brief rebound.
The first meaningful defensive area is the $6.40 round number handle, followed closely by the shelf of support at $6.38, about 2.0 percent below the current price. That shelf matters because it is the nearest established area where demand has previously been sufficient to stabilize the tape. If it holds, the market can continue to rotate within the broader three month range of $6.10 to $6.93 without confirming a deeper deterioration. Resistance is defined by the month swing high at $6.93, about 6.4 percent above the current price, because clearing that ceiling would overturn the sequence of weakness and force a reassessment of the prevailing downtrend.
The bull path is straightforward: if copper recovers through $6.59 and establishes itself above $6.60, then pressure should ease and attention can shift toward $6.93. A decisive move above $6.93 opens the path toward $7.13 because it would represent a clean escape from both the month ceiling and the upper boundary of the three month range. The bear path begins if $6.40 fails to attract a durable response. If that weakness extends through $6.38, then losing $6.38 exposes $6.10, which means the full lower boundary of the three month range becomes the next meaningful reference.
The principal risk to the cautious view is a sustained recovery above $6.60, followed by acceptance through $6.93, because that sequence would invalidate the present interpretation of rallies as corrective and establish a stronger upside structure toward $7.13. Conversely, repeated failures beneath the one month average at $6.59 would keep $6.38 vulnerable, while a break there would make $6.10 increasingly relevant. Net, copper remains defensively positioned at $6.51 because the trend, range placement, and recent momentum favor further testing of support unless the market first reclaims resistance with conviction.
Key levels: support $6.38 (2.0% below), resistance $6.93 (6.4% above), one-month average $6.59, three-month range $6.10 to $6.93.
