AUD/USD – Daily Read

0.7056
AUD/USD is pressing the top of its one-month range at 0.7056, yet it was little changed on the session (under 0.05%). The pair is consolidating strength rather than retreating, which means the immediate question is whether recent demand can force a genuine range expansion. The view is cautiously constructive because price is holding above the one-month average after a meaningful recovery, but confirmation still requires the nearby ceiling to give way.
The macro link is the contest between broad dollar direction and global risk appetite, because AUD/USD typically needs both a softer dollar backdrop and confidence in growth-sensitive assets to sustain an advance. The instrument-specific catalyst is its roughly 1.9 percent rise over the last two weeks, which means pressure has shifted toward the upper boundary rather than remaining trapped near the lower end. The one month average at 0.6993 now acts as an important reference: price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. That qualification matters because the move has improved the near-term picture without yet establishing a broader trend reversal.
The month swing high at 0.7070 is the immediate resistance and sits about 0.2 percent above the current price. It matters because repeated acceptance beyond that boundary would show that supply at the top of the one-month range has been absorbed. The nearer round number handle at 0.7000 is the first support, which means holding above it preserves the sense that shallow pullbacks are consolidation rather than rejection. Below there, the shelf of support at 0.6899, about 2.2 percent below, is the critical defensive line because it is also the floor of the three month range at 0.6899 to 0.7241. The nearer round number handle at 0.7200 should become a meaningful checkpoint if resistance breaks, while 0.7241 marks the upper boundary where stronger supply could reappear.
The bull path is clear: if AUD/USD makes a decisive move above 0.7070 and then holds that area on a retest, the path opens toward 0.7241 because the market would have escaped the one-month ceiling and entered the upper portion of its three month range. Progress through 0.7200 would strengthen that case, which means hesitation there would be normal but sustained rejection would warn that the breakout lacks depth. The bear path begins if 0.7000 fails to provide support and price cannot recover it. In that case, attention shifts back toward 0.6899 because the recovery structure would be weakening. Losing 0.6899 exposes 0.6800 and would turn a contained pullback into a broader downside extension.
The main risk is a false break above 0.7070 followed by a rapid return beneath 0.7000, because that sequence would show exhaustion at resistance rather than durable acceptance. The constructive read is invalidated by a loss of 0.6899, which means the three month floor has failed and 0.6800 becomes the next downside reference. Net, AUD/USD retains an upward bias while above 0.7000, but conviction depends on converting 0.7070 from resistance into support.
Key levels: support 0.6899 (2.2% below), resistance 0.7070 (0.2% above), one-month average 0.6993, three-month range 0.6899 to 0.7241.
