AUD/USD – Daily Read

0.7015
AUD/USD is attempting to restore an upward bias rather than starting a clean breakout. The last price is 0.7015, with the last session 0.1 percent higher, and it is holding in the upper half of its one-month range. That matters because the pair has recovered enough ground to pressure nearby resistance, but has not yet demonstrated the follow-through needed to turn a fragile rebound into a durable advance. The clear view is cautiously constructive above the central support area, with conviction reserved for a break of the month’s high.
The macro backdrop matters mainly through relative rate expectations, commodity sentiment, China-linked demand and broader risk appetite, because those forces can move the Australian dollar more sharply than domestic narratives alone. The one month average is 0.7001; price is above it, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. Momentum is roughly 0.1 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the recent firmness has not yet erased the loss of pace beneath the surface. This tension explains why AUD/USD can look supported without yet looking fully released to the upside.
The nearest decision point is 0.7000, because that round number sits just below the current price and close to the one month average at 0.7001. Holding that zone would show that the recovery is being defended where recent value and market psychology overlap. The month swing high at 0.7070 is about 0.8 percent above the current price, and it matters because clearing it would remove the most immediate ceiling on the rebound. Above there, 0.7200 becomes the next round number handle before the upper boundary of the three month range at 0.7241. On the downside, a shelf of support at 0.6899 is about 1.6 percent below, which means it is the key structural floor rather than ordinary intraday noise. The full three month range is 0.6899 to 0.7241, so either boundary carries more significance than movement around the middle.
The bull path is straightforward: if AUD/USD continues to hold 0.7000 and consolidates above 0.7001, then pressure should rebuild against 0.7070 because the market would be accepting the recovery above recent value. A decisive move above 0.7070 opens the path toward 0.7241, with 0.7200 likely to test conviction along the way. The bear path begins if 0.7000 fails and cannot be recovered, because that would return price below the area currently supporting the rebound. If weakness then reaches and loses 0.6899, it exposes 0.6800, which means the recovery attempt has failed and the three month floor has given way.
The main risk to the constructive view is that the modest two-week loss of pace proves more informative than the latest session’s rise, because AUD/USD remains beneath its longer average and vulnerable to a firmer US dollar or weaker risk tone. Sustained trade below 0.6899 would invalidate the recovery thesis, while rejection beneath 0.7070 would keep the pair range-bound rather than outright bearish. Net, 0.7015 supports a cautiously positive read, but 0.7070 must break before the upside case deserves stronger conviction.
Key levels: support 0.6899 (1.6% below), resistance 0.7070 (0.8% above), one-month average 0.7001, three-month range 0.6899 to 0.7241.
