AUD/USD – Daily Read

0.7034
AUD/USD at 0.7034 is 0.1 percent higher in the last session and pressing the top of its one-month range, which means the recovery is moving from repair into a genuine test of control. The clear view is cautiously constructive: upward pressure is credible, but confirmation still depends on clearing nearby resistance. That matters because failure at the range ceiling would leave the advance looking mature rather than decisive, while acceptance above it would signal that the market is prepared to reprice the Australian dollar into a broader recovery leg.
The one month average at 0.6986 is now below price, and the structure reads as a recovery attempt, back above the one-month average but still under the longer one. Momentum is roughly 0.9 percent up over the last two weeks, which means the move has developed enough persistence to challenge the range high without yet establishing a fully repaired longer-term structure. The broader currency backdrop matters only insofar as shifts in relative rate expectations and global risk appetite can reinforce or interrupt that recovery, because AUD/USD remains sensitive to both. For now, the instrument-specific message is that demand has absorbed weakness above its recent mean, but has not yet proved it can sustain a breakout.
The immediate resistance is the month swing high at 0.7054, about 0.3 percent above the current price, because that is where the recovery either converts into continuation or meets renewed supply. The round number handle at 0.7000 is the nearer line of defence, which means holding above it preserves the impression that pullbacks are consolidation rather than rejection. Below there, a shelf of support at 0.6899, about 1.9 percent below, is more consequential because it is also the lower boundary of the three month range 0.6899 to 0.7241. The upper round number handle at 0.7200 matters as a likely pause point inside that range, while 0.7241 is the boundary whose recovery would show that the broader range has been fully traversed.
The bull path is straightforward: if AUD/USD makes a decisive move above 0.7054, then the path opens toward 0.7241 because resistance at the month swing high would have been absorbed and the range ceiling would become the market’s focus. A sustained hold through 0.7200 would strengthen that path, which means the advance would be pressing the upper portion of the three month range rather than merely probing its midpoint. The bear path begins if price loses 0.7000 and cannot recover it. That would weaken the immediate recovery, and if 0.6899 then gives way, losing 0.6899 exposes 0.6800 because the established range floor would no longer be containing downside pressure.
The principal risk to the constructive view is a false break above 0.7054 followed by a retreat beneath 0.7000, because that sequence would show that apparent strength attracted supply rather than fresh continuation. The read is fully invalidated below 0.6899, which means the recovery structure has failed and 0.6800 becomes exposed. Net, AUD/USD retains a bullish tilt above 0.7000, but conviction belongs only to a decisive clearance of 0.7054.
Key levels: support 0.6899 (1.9% below), resistance 0.7054 (0.3% above), one-month average 0.6986, three-month range 0.6899 to 0.7241.
