Copper – Daily Read

30 October 2026 | Commodity | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
$6.40

Copper is in a corrective phase, not yet a broken advance, with the last price at $6.40 after finishing 2.7 percent lower in the last session. That distinction matters because it is down near the floor of its one-month range, while the broader structure still leaves room for the longer trend to reassert itself. The immediate view is cautiously constructive above nearby support, but conviction should remain limited until price proves that the current retreat has exhausted itself.

The pressure is visible in momentum roughly 2.8 percent down over the last two weeks, and price has slipped below the one month average $6.62. The structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up, which means current weakness is testing trend quality rather than conclusively reversing it. For the commodity complex, copper’s sensitivity to growth expectations can amplify shifts in macro confidence, but the instrument-specific issue now is whether nearby demand absorbs supply around the lower edge of its recent range.

The nearer round number handles at $6.60 and $6.40 separate stabilization from continued pressure because they frame the immediate contest. Holding around $6.40 keeps the market anchored near current value, while reclaiming $6.60 would show that the pullback is being absorbed and put the one-month mean back within reach. A shelf of support at $6.38, about 0.3 percent below, is the critical defense because it sits just beneath the current handle and represents the market’s last close support before the range opens materially lower. The three month range $5.97 to $6.93 defines the larger battlefield. Its upper boundary is also the month swing high $6.93, about 8.3 percent above the current price, which means that level is both established resistance and the point where continuation would become credible.

The bull path is straightforward: if $6.38 holds, then a recovery through $6.40 can stabilize the tape, and acceptance above $6.60 can rebuild confidence toward $6.93. If resistance there gives way, then a decisive move above $6.93 opens the path toward $7.13 because the market would have cleared both the month swing high and the ceiling of the broader range. The bear path is equally clear: if attempts to recover $6.40 and $6.60 fail, then pressure remains concentrated on $6.38. Losing $6.38 exposes $5.97 because that break would remove the nearby shelf and shift attention to the three-month floor.

The main risk to the constructive view is repeated failure beneath the one month average $6.62, because persistent trade below it would make the longer uptrend less relevant to near-term price discovery. A clean loss of $6.38 would invalidate the idea that this is merely a contained pullback, while a recovery above $6.93 would invalidate the bearish continuation case. Net, copper remains a longer-trend advance under short-term strain, with support close enough to define the risk and resistance clear enough to demand proof before confidence returns.
