EUR/GBP – Daily Read

28 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.8365

EUR/GBP is pressing the lower edge of its recent range, with the last price at 0.8365 despite finishing the last session 0.1 percent higher. That small advance does not yet alter the dominant direction because the pair remains down near the floor of its one-month range, where rebounds must prove they can develop into sustained demand rather than brief position adjustment. The clear view is defensive: sterling retains the relative advantage while the euro has yet to establish a durable base, which means downside pressure remains more credible than reversal until nearby resistance is reclaimed.

The instrument-specific story is one of persistent euro underperformance against sterling rather than broad currency turbulence. EUR/GBP has declined roughly 1.1 percent over the last two weeks and trades below its one month average of 0.8434, with price also under its longer averages. The structure therefore reads as a downtrend because successive recovery attempts have failed to restore the pair above its established reference prices. The month swing high at 0.8586 sits about 2.6 percent above the current price, which means the market has substantial work to do before the broader bearish structure can be challenged.

The immediate contest is concentrated at the shelf of support at 0.8359, about 0.07 percent below the last price. That level matters because it is also the floor of the three month range of 0.8359 to 0.8612, so it is defended by participants treating the established range boundary as a place for stabilization and profit protection. The nearer round number handle at 0.8400 is the first meaningful resistance because holding above it would ease immediate pressure and create room for a recovery toward 0.8434. Below the range floor, 0.8200 becomes the next major reference, while 0.8600 and the upper boundary at 0.8612 define the area where a genuine regime change would need confirmation.

The bull path is conditional: if 0.8359 continues to hold, then a recovery through 0.8400 can force a reassessment of crowded bearish positioning and bring 0.8434 back into play. If price then establishes acceptance above that average, the move can extend toward 0.8586 because the market would have shifted from defending the floor to reclaiming lost ground. A decisive move above 0.8586 opens the path toward 0.8600, with 0.8612 then acting as the final range barrier. The bear path is cleaner: if 0.8359 is lost decisively, then the three month floor has failed, which means 0.8200 is exposed as the next major downside handle.

The principal risk to the bearish read is a sharp relative repricing in favor of the euro that carries EUR/GBP through 0.8400 and sustains it above 0.8434. That would weaken the immediate downside case because support would have held while the pair reclaimed its one month reference. Full invalidation requires a decisive move above 0.8586, particularly if 0.8600 and 0.8612 stop containing advances. Until then, the net take remains cautious and bearish: 0.8359 is the pivotal defense, and its failure would confirm that the current pressure is extending rather than exhausting.
