EUR/USD – Daily Read

16 October 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
1.1230

EUR/USD is stabilising without yet reversing its broader weakness. The last price is 1.1230, with the last session 0.1 percent higher, but the pair remains in the lower half of its one-month range. That combination matters because a modest daily advance can relieve immediate pressure while leaving the prevailing direction intact. The clear view is cautiously bearish below the range’s central reference points: euro demand has stopped deteriorating for now, yet the dollar side still holds enough relative strength to prevent a convincing turn.

The one month average is 1.1286, and price is below it, while the structure reads as a downtrend, with price under both its one-month and longer averages. Price is also roughly 0.2 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the recent improvement has not repaired the underlying loss of ground. Relative rate expectations and shifts in broader risk appetite remain the relevant macro transmission channels because they determine whether short-term euro resilience develops into sustained demand or merely pauses the existing decline.

The immediate contest sits around the nearer round number handles at 1.1400 and 1.1200. Holding above 1.1200 would show that defensive demand remains active near the current price, while sustained trade below it would weaken that defence and refocus attention on a shelf of support at 1.1117, about 1.0 percent below. That shelf is especially important because it is also the floor of the three month range from 1.1117 to 1.1715. On the upside, 1.1400 is the first meaningful barrier, since reclaiming it would reduce the pressure created by trading below 1.1286 and shift attention toward the month swing high at 1.1501, about 2.4 percent above the current price. The high matters because it marks the point where recovery becomes a genuine structural challenge rather than a temporary rebound.

The bull path is straightforward: if EUR/USD holds 1.1200, regains 1.1400, and then delivers a decisive move above 1.1501, that sequence would show progressively stronger euro control and opens the path toward 1.1715. The reasoning is that each recovery would remove a separate layer of overhead resistance, with the final break clearing the month’s defining high. The bear path is equally clear: if 1.1200 fails and subsequent pressure overwhelms 1.1117, losing 1.1117 exposes 1.1000 because the established three-month floor would no longer be containing the decline.

The main risk to the bearish read is sustained acceptance above 1.1501, since that would invalidate the assumption that rallies remain contained and make 1.1715 the relevant upper reference. Conversely, repeated failure below 1.1400 followed by a break of 1.1117 would confirm that the 0.1 percent higher session was only a pause. Net, 1.1200 can steady EUR/USD, but the balance remains bearish until price decisively clears 1.1501.
