Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

The Nasdaq 100 is in a corrective phase, not a confirmed trend reversal. At 28,958, it was little changed on the session, under 0.05%, but that surface calm masks pressure underneath because the index is down near the floor of its one-month range. The clear view is cautious while price remains pinned below its recent center of gravity, although the larger advance is still intact. That matters because weakness near a range floor can produce either a sharp relief move or an abrupt transition into a deeper reset.

The immediate context is a loss of leadership and follow-through within the growth-heavy index, which means broad macro uncertainty matters mainly through its effect on long-duration technology valuations and risk appetite. The one month average is 30,224, and price is below it, so the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 6.2 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the burden has shifted toward the bulls to prove that weakness is being absorbed rather than merely paused. The month swing high at 31,361 stands about 8.3 percent above the current price, underscoring how much ground must be recovered before control clearly changes hands.

The first defense is the shelf of support at 28,826, about 0.5 percent below, because its proximity makes it the cleanest test of whether demand remains responsive at the range floor. The nearer round number handles at 29,000 and 28,500 matter for different reasons: 29,000 is the immediate pivot around which price can stabilize, while 28,500 is the next psychological defense if the shelf fails. The broader three month range runs from 27,176 to 31,361, which means the market remains inside an established band rather than in open downside territory. A decisive move above 31,361 opens the path toward 31,861, because clearing the range ceiling would confirm that the correction has been repaired. Losing 28,826 exposes 27,176, because it would remove the nearby floor and refocus attention on the base of the broader range.

The bull path is straightforward: if support holds and the index reclaims 29,000, then stabilization can develop into a recovery toward 30,224 because regaining the recent average would show that the pullback is losing control. If that recovery then clears 31,361 decisively, the path toward 31,861 becomes credible because overhead supply would have been absorbed. The bear path begins if 28,826 gives way with persistence. In that case, 28,500 becomes the immediate test, and failure there raises the probability of a move toward 27,176 because the market would be traversing the lower section of its three month range without the shelf that previously contained pressure.

The central risk is a false break on either side, because a market sitting near support can overshoot before returning to its prior range. The constructive read is invalidated by sustained trade below 28,826 and then 28,500, which means the longer uptrend no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt until 27,176 is tested or reclaimed structure emerges. The bearish read is invalidated by recovery through 30,224 followed by acceptance above 31,361. Net, the index remains vulnerable but not broken: respect nearby support, demand proof from any rebound, and treat the next decisive range break as the signal that resolves the current tension.
