Nasdaq 100 (NAS100) – Daily Read

23 October 2026 | Index | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
28,958.7

The Nasdaq 100 is in a sharp pullback, not yet a broken longer-term advance. At 28,959 after finishing the last session 2.9 percent lower, it sits near the floor of its one-month range, which means the immediate question is whether forced de-risking is approaching exhaustion or becoming a deeper repricing. The clear view is cautious near term: downside pressure remains dominant because the index is roughly 5.8 percent down over the last two weeks, but nearby support still offers a credible place for stabilization.

The pressure matters because growth-heavy equities are especially sensitive when the macro backdrop encourages investors to demand more compensation for duration and earnings uncertainty. For NAS100 specifically, the retreat below the one month average of 30,306 confirms that leadership has weakened, which means the market must rebuild acceptance above that area before the pullback can mature into renewed strength. Even so, the structure still reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend points up, so the present weakness should not automatically be treated as a full trend reversal.

The first line of defense is the support shelf at 28,855, about 0.4 percent below the current price, because it is close enough to attract an immediate test after the latest decline. The 29,000 round number is the nearer psychological handle, and sustained trade back above it would suggest that participants are defending the lower boundary rather than merely pausing. Below the shelf, 28,500 becomes the next round number reference, which means failure there would leave little nearby structure before the lower end of the three month range at 27,176. That wider range extends from 27,176 to 31,361, making 31,361 the defining resistance and the month swing high, about 8.3 percent above the current price. The distance to that high shows how much repair is required before upside control is restored.

The bull path is straightforward: if 28,855 holds, 28,500 remains untouched, and price reclaims 29,000, then stabilization can develop into a recovery toward 30,306 because regaining the one month average would show that the recent weakness is being absorbed. If that recovery then produces a decisive move above 31,361, the path opens toward 31,861, which means the pullback has resolved in favor of the longer trend. The bear path is equally clear: if 28,855 is lost and 28,500 cannot contain the follow-through, then 27,176 is exposed because the market would have broken both the nearby shelf and the round number defense.

The main risk to the cautious view is a rapid recovery through 30,306, because that would undermine the idea that sellers retain near-term control. Conversely, the longer-term constructive reading is invalidated by sustained weakness through 27,176, which means the full three month floor has failed rather than simply been tested. Net, NAS100 remains vulnerable below 30,306, but 28,855 is the decisive near-term pivot: defend it and recovery remains credible; lose it and the pullback becomes a materially deeper correction.
