$101.59
The US Dollar Index is firming tactically but has not yet restored full upside control. Last price is 101.59, with the last session change 0.1 percent higher, which means defensive dollar demand is present but remains too modest to confirm a fresh advance. It is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, so the immediate picture is consolidation rather than acceleration. The clear view is cautiously constructive above nearby support, because the longer trend still points up even as the shorter structure absorbs an earlier retreat.
The risk-off regime, mixed PMIs and firmer dollar are helping DXY at the margin, which means fragile risk appetite is providing a defensive tailwind without yet producing a decisive breakout. The one month average is 101.96; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Price has also moved roughly 0.06 percent down over the last two weeks, which means recent dollar strength has not erased the loss of short-term traction. In forex terms, the tension is straightforward: defensive demand supports the currency, but follow-through remains constrained while price stays beneath its recent reference area.
The first meaningful resistance is the nearer round number handle at 102.00, because reclaiming it would place price back above the one month average of 101.96 and improve the quality of the advance. Beyond there, the month swing high is 102.94, about 1.3 percent above the current price, which means it is the main barrier separating a pullback from renewed trend extension. On the downside, a shelf of support sits at 101.10, about 0.5 percent below, because that area is close enough to attract a test while still preserving the broader upward structure. The other nearer round number handle is 100.00, which means a move through 101.10 would shift attention quickly toward a deeper retracement. The three month range is 98.56 to 102.94, because those extremes define the broader balance between durable dollar demand and a more consequential reversal.
The bull path is conditional: if DXY holds 101.10, regains 102.00 and then sustains pressure above 102.94, a decisive move above 102.94 opens the path toward 104.00, which means the longer upward trend has resumed rather than merely survived. The bear path is equally clear: if rebounds repeatedly fail around 101.96 and 102.00, then losing 101.10 exposes 98.56, because the nearest support shelf would have failed and the lower boundary of the three month range would become the relevant destination.
The principal risk to the constructive view is that the latest 0.1 percent higher session proves to be only defensive noise beneath 101.96, which means price never develops enough follow-through to challenge 102.94. A sustained loss of 101.10 would invalidate the near-term bullish bias, while recovery through 102.00 would weaken the bearish case. Net, DXY remains a supported pullback at 101.59 because the longer trend points up, but conviction requires 102.94 to break, while 101.10 is the line that keeps the read intact.
Key levels: support 101.10 (0.5% below), resistance 102.94 (1.3% above), one-month average 101.96, three-month range 98.56 to 102.94.
