Copper – Daily Read

$6.56
Copper is correcting inside an intact longer-term advance, with the last price at $6.56 after finishing the last session 0.8 percent lower. It is trading in the lower half of its one-month range, which means near-term control has shifted toward supply even though the larger trend has not yet broken. The clear view is cautious while price remains beneath its recent balance point, but not outright bearish because nearby support still offers a credible base from which the broader advance can resume.
The macro backdrop matters only insofar as uncertainty around global growth and policy is tempering demand expectations for an economically sensitive commodity. Copper’s one month average is $6.65; price is below it, and the structure reads as a pullback, slipping under the one-month average while the longer trend still points up. Momentum is roughly 4.8 percent down over the last two weeks, which means the market needs fresh demand rather than simple stabilization to regain authority. That loss of pace explains why rebounds can meet supply quickly, while the longer trend keeps the pullback from automatically becoming a full reversal.
The nearer round number handles at $6.60 and $6.40 define the immediate contest because they bracket the current price and concentrate attention around recovery and defense. Holding above $6.60 would improve the short-term tone, while repeated failure there would show that supply remains comfortable pressing rallies. A shelf of support at $6.42, about 2.1 percent below, matters because it is the last clearly defined defense before the correction can broaden. The month swing high is $6.93, about 5.6 percent above the current price, and it is also the upper boundary of the three month range $5.97 to $6.93, which means clearing it would represent genuine expansion rather than another rebound within established boundaries.
The bull path is straightforward: if Copper reclaims $6.60, then recovers $6.65 and holds above it, the pullback begins to look absorbed because price would have regained both the nearby handle and its recent balance point. If that recovery then produces a decisive move above $6.93, it opens the path toward $7.13, which means the longer uptrend has resumed with range resistance removed. The bear path begins if attempts through $6.60 and $6.65 keep failing. If pressure then carries Copper through $6.42 and below $6.40, the market loses its nearby shelf; losing $6.42 exposes $5.97 because the lower boundary of the three month range becomes the next established area capable of attracting sustained demand.
The main risk to the cautious view is a rapid recovery above $6.65 followed by acceptance through $6.93, which would invalidate the idea that this correction still needs more repair. The main risk to the longer-term bullish structure is failure at $6.42, especially if $6.40 cannot contain the move, because that would turn an orderly pullback into a deeper range retracement toward $5.97. Net, Copper remains longer-term constructive but tactically heavy at $6.56, with conviction improving only above resistance and deteriorating sharply beneath support.
Key levels: support $6.42 (2.1% below), resistance $6.93 (5.6% above), one-month average $6.65, three-month range $5.97 to $6.93.
