AUD/USD – Daily Read

7 November 2026 | Forex | Titan Macro Desk

Last Price
0.6865

AUD/USD is under clear pressure at 0.6865 after finishing the last session 1.0 percent lower, and the near-term bias remains bearish because price is down near the floor of its one-month range rather than stabilising in the middle of it. That location matters: weakness at the bottom of a range gives the market little room to absorb another adverse impulse before established support is tested. The pair can still rebound sharply from compressed positioning, but strength needs to prove durable before the broader decline can be treated as exhausted.

The macro backdrop matters only insofar as relative growth, policy expectations and risk appetite are favouring the US dollar and challenging currencies exposed to global demand, which means the Australian dollar needs a specific catalyst to reverse the pressure. The one month average at 0.6991 now sits above price, and the structure reads as a downtrend because AUD/USD is trading under both its one-month and longer averages. Momentum is roughly 2.5 percent down over the last two weeks, confirming that the latest decline is not merely a single-session reaction. The month swing high at 0.7070 is about 3.0 percent above the current price, which means considerable repair is required before control shifts back toward the bulls.

Immediate attention belongs on the shelf of support at 0.6857, about 0.1 percent below, because it is both close enough to be tested quickly and the lower boundary of the three month range at 0.6857 to 0.7241. That shelf is defended by prior range demand and by traders unwilling to chase weakness at an established floor. Below it, the nearer round number handle at 0.6800 becomes the next reference because losing a multi-month boundary would signal that the market is accepting lower value. On the upside, 0.7000 is the first meaningful round number barrier, while 0.7070 carries greater structural weight because it marks the month swing high. The upper boundary at 0.7241 matters only after that resistance gives way.

The bull path is straightforward: if 0.6857 holds, price reclaims 0.7000 and then sustains a decisive move above 0.7070, the downtrend would begin to lose authority because the market would have recovered both a major handle and the recent swing high. That sequence opens the path toward 0.7241, with each reclaimed level increasing confidence that the range floor produced a genuine reversal. The bear path is equally clear: if 0.6857 is lost decisively, then 0.6800 is exposed because the three-month floor would no longer be containing supply, and failed attempts to recover 0.6857 would reinforce the break.

The main risk to the bearish read is a rapid recovery through 0.6991 and 0.7000, followed by acceptance above 0.7070, because that would invalidate the sequence of lower value and shift attention toward 0.7241. Conversely, repeated defence of 0.6857 without meaningful upside progress would not itself turn the picture bullish, which means support must generate recovery rather than mere hesitation. Net, AUD/USD remains vulnerable at 0.6865, with 0.6857 defining whether pressure extends toward 0.6800 or a credible repair can begin.
